we will get through it, as we get through the next day or so we will see the area of rain to the north of the area. continuing to push to new england. high pressure builds in from the south and the west result will see the clear skies and cooler temperatures laterred on the. this is moving at a good clip and we will see the skies clear. tomorrow looks so much better. sunshine, cool start but in the afternoon a good amount of sun and temperatures reaching as high as 62 or 63 across the area. we will talk more about the days ahead and the weekend, too, in a few minutes. back to you. jonathan: thank you. alison: a reminder even when you are away from the t, the team is working for you behind the scenes. get the forecast at the smart phone and tablet. download the weather app from the apple store and google play. jonathan: breaking news this afternoon out of springdale, maryland. a man shot in his car.
4:01 pm
brad bell on the scene. what happened there? brad: a crazy scene. this is the car you are talking about. you can see the red car crashed on a tree stump. the man inside the car in the driver's seat was apparently shot in an incident that began about 100 yards down there. we know at this point there was a shooting. the victim was in the car and he was in an accident and is in serious condition. but not life threatening injuries. they are look for clues but we don't believe anyone has been apprehended. the bottom line is the neighborhood is blocked off at time when children are coming home from school.
4:02 pm
those that need to get by are escorted by police. they look for evidence to figure out what happened here. we'll be back at 5:00 with more on the breaking news. in springdale, brad bell, abc7 news. jonathan: thank you very much. is it true love or is it a sweetheart swindling situation? alison: an 81-year-old man says the passion was real. but his family and police say his mystery wife is a manipulative thief. montgomery county reporter kevin lewis following the money in story you will see only here today. ketch? kevin: hi there. police say daramy met the 81-year-old elderly widower at a giant grocery store. in a few weeks she had withdrawn $59,000 from the man's bank of america account. when she attempted to siphon another $50,000 a few days later, the bank called the police. bull before the cops could interview her, she arrived at the montgomery county circuit
4:03 pm
courthouse with her alleged victim, 81-year-old john andrews. that is where the two were married. here is the ultimate twist. today mr. andrews told us that they are madly in love sharing an emotional and a physical condition. mr. andrews adding that the police are poking where they should not. he wants his wife now released from jail. >> she didn't take that money out of my account. i took it out of my account. >> police believe she was coercing you to do so. >> how could she coerce me? she wasn't coercing me. i took money out. some i gave to her to go shopping. kevin: that may be true but the police and family strongly disagree with him. she is locked up in jail facing four theft charges. if you join us at 4:30ly tell you what the neighbors did when it came to bragging about
4:04 pm
her new bling. that is at 4:30. i'm kevin lewis, abc7 news. jonathan: we have breaking news. plane crashing near an airport near akron, ohio. the local media reporting that a hawker 25, which is a small jet, crashed on approach to akron fulton airport. a witness told the tv station there that the plane clipped the apartment building. the abc affiliate in cleveland are reporting two people aboard a plane were killed. nobody in the apartments were hurt. the plane was coming in and just clipped the apartments. i didn't smash in the apartments. alison? alison: also today the white house is appealing to the supreme court and this is about immigration. the obama administration was dealt a blow when the fifth u.s. circuit court of appeals in new orleans upheld a lower court's decision in texas. that decision put an injunction blocking a plan to protect some illegal immigrants. as many as 5 million illegal immigrants would have been protected from deportation. what is unclear is if the
4:05 pm
supreme court will in fact accept the case. jonathan: tonight is the next round of the battle for the republican nomination and presidential candidate. the short list debate field is in milwaukee. they are ready to take on the issues after the last debate. >> is this a comic book version of a presidential campaign? >> it's not a campaign -- not a comic book campaign. >> in 2008, barack obama missed 70% of the vote and the same newspaper endorsed him. this is the double standard that exists in the country between the main stream media. >> how about talking about the substantive issues? [applause] jonathan: it was clear the big loser in the last debate were the moderators. they were hammered on the question they were asked them and how they didn't do the research on the questions they did present. the better question tonight is whether the panel tonight be a better tage. i couldn't imagine it could be worse. it's debate night and
4:06 pm
political reporter scott thuman is in milwaukee. there are so many subplots. jeb bush anemic, fiorina, m.i.a. trump and carson are the front runners but we have to hear initiatives from them that we haven't yet. scott: absolutely. everyone is promising there would be more substantive meaningful talk this time around focusing on the economy and business. we have heard it before. but promises renewed. three things that we can look for tonight that will be interesting. one is rubio's rise. he certainly got a surge after the last couple of debates. his performances were deemed to be note-worthy. we have seen him go up in the polls. will he continue the rise. the media now asking about
4:07 pm
carson's for accept tense to west point. he continue -- for acceptance to west point. can he continue to do that and move forward with a campaign focused on the future not the past? but the third element is bush's break-out. will he have a breakthrough performance that some say he has to have. some people say this is a make or break night but he knows he needs to perform well in milwaukee. jonathan: i heard the r.n.c. chairman say listen, for the candidates be civil and stay on task and be focused with the answers. that is what the folks want. they don't want the dirty laundry. they want the substantive debates. scott: i think they will see more of that tonight for sure.
4:08 pm
they want to be together as one. they have one very, let's say, a specific target they will go after tonight. we'll talk about that coming up at "abc7 news at 5:00". interesting video for you. jonathan: two more seconds scott. who wins tonight? give me a prediction. scott: well, you say economy you think people who based careers on it would do well. trump, fiorina. we have been wrong before. we'll have to wait to see. i don't want to go outen a limb. jonathan: scott thuman, thank you very much. alison: thank you very much, jonathan. well, police in fairfax county now looking for a serial grocery store robber. the suspect says he has a gun and demands a clerk to hand over money. coming up at 5:00 we'll detail how many stores have been hit. what police are looking for

a lot of people question if the video would have been released if the victim had been a woman and the individuals committing the sexual abuse been men. >> two females doing that to him, no. even if a male would have been do that, it would have been all over the board. stephen: it would have blown up completely. i can tell you this video. and this was october 7 in the gas station in the middle of the afternoon, by the way. a lot of people talking about it tonight. we will be working on getting more information about the arrest. which woman was apprehend and what led to the arrest. we'll have that at "abc7 news at 6:00". reporting live, stephen tschida. jonathan: thank you. a lot of folks are talking about the body cameras on police officers and for good reason. today we are getting an incredible first-person view of an officer involved in a it shooing. watch this. >> stop, stop!
