detained? >> he is under arrest. >> for what? >> reporter: the police had been called to the apartment after complaints about loud noise. as the encounter unfolds, the students immediately whip out cell phones and start recording from multiple angles. cell phones rolling, the students assert their rights, questioning the officers' authority. >> do you have a warrant? >> i don't have to have a warrant. >> reporter: finally, all hell breaks loose. the officers grab one student, pushing him outside. he's tased and beaten with a baton. a screaming female student is also dragged out. cell phone rolling. >> i just really hope that's on video. >> reporter: when it's all over the students post the videos on social media and the chief of tuscaloosa police took action, naming the officers. >> once i started receiving the videos and watching what occurred, i was deeply disturbed by it and disappointed. >> reporter: we're told several officers did have body cams and that police are reviewing the footage. it's unclear whether that video will help or hurt the officers.

pierre thomas, abc news, washington. there's encouraging news for jimmy carter. three months after telling the worl has cancer, a spokeswoman for the former president says he's responding well to treatment. and doctors have found no evidence of new tumors. carter is 91. he's being treated with radiation and a newly approved drug. president obama has become the first sitting president to grace the cover of an lgbt magazine. the president posed for "out" magazine which named him "ally of the year." the president talked about those who influenced his views on gay rights such as his mother and a gay professor. and he said the favorable attitude of young people toward gay rights gives him cause for optimism. fast food workers took to the streets yesterday to demand higher wages. organizers calling the protests fight for 15. a $15 an hour minimum wage. in many cities protests were

centered around mcdonald's restaurants and often snarled traffic. and in washington the workers got support from democratic presidential hopeful bernie sanders. and here's a special delivery. the postal service is apologizing for. oops. look at it again. surveillance cameras capturing a mail carrier togs a package onto the porch of the house. the box was dented but the vacuum supplies inside weren't damaged. the postal service describes its ongoing investigation of the incident as full and robust. well, snoop dogg has become the first celebrity to market a full self-branded line of marijuana. it's called leaves by snoop. it's now available at colorado pot shops. the line of products include eight strains of marijuana sold as prepackaged aiths, quarters and spices. also chocolate bars, gummies, and fruit chews. >> i wonder if they're going to have a black friday sale. >> oh. a little stocking stuffer there? >> after thanksgiving. that's actually brilliant.

served in world war ii. kenneth, part of the army motorcycle police in europe. spillman's frequent visits to the cemetery began when he moved to washington 15 years ago. marie louise, kenneth's friend for 80 years and his wife for 60, would drive with him. >> he was filled with pride. pride of who we are and pride of all those young men in his war or any of the wars that were buried there. he felt comfor and he felt he needed to honor them. >> reporter: each memorial day also included paying tribute to the veterans of rolling thunder. >> we'd be there for hours. so proud of them. just hooray for you and well done. yeah. >> reporter: but his special place was section 60, where america's newest war dead are buried. >> he would walk among the rows, and he would look and he would reflect on those who most recently had lost their lives, and he would reflect on the

parents that had lost a child. >> reporter: in 2007 his dedication earned him the honor of laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns. but spilman the real honor was when he got to put wreaths on individual veterans'' graves. >> my father kept returning to the trucks and they would actually line his arms with the wreaths. and he never tired. and he was in his 80s. >> reporter: after years of honoring veterans on this hallowed ground, at age 93 it would be kenneth spilman's turn. >> my dad was an extremely humble man who had the most amazing heart. just a kind, kind man who will be greatly missed. ♪ >> deep down that's all he wanted, truly, was to be buried there. >> reporter: kenneth spilman never forgot the sacrifice of his fellow veterans, and he is not forgotten. >> he was looking down and
