the road. prince george's county police released four 911 calls calls tt are dramatic in nature. memorial consisting of teddy bears set up alongside of chillum road. police have not released flores' toxicology results. they should make it clear whether or not the 30-year-old inuee or alcol or drugs. but it may be days if not weeks before we learn more. it 56:00 we will have more of the 911 calls. but for now live in hyattsville, i'm kevin lewis, abc7 news. alison: thank you. 24 hours ago we brought you this story as breaking news. a man crashes his car after being shot. we learned bernard parker died. maryland bureau chief brad bell continues towork the developing story today. brad, he was shot in the car. do we know what led up to that? brad: no, we don't.

as a matter of fact, police didn't know at first that he had been shot. this is the tree the car came to rest on. he was taken from the accident scene by accident to the hospital. that's where they found out that he had been shot. we can show you a picture of mr. parker. he is 5 -- he was 59 years old, we should say. he lived in this neighborhood for a long time. people here knew him. and liked him very well. what police believe happened is he was driving in his car. a family members tell me he was on his way to get a prescription for his elderly mother-in-law when for some reason, somehow, someone came up to the car. that person had a gun. opened fire. and hit mr. parker in the head. at first it was expected he would be fine. then his condition deteriorated. he did die overnight.

we had an opportunity to speak to some of his neighbors. they say theyare crushed. >> he was a great dude. a good neighbor. generally on saturday mornings we would both come out and cut our grass, wash our cars, just talk about what is going on in the world. brad: we will be back at 5:00 and show you what police are doing to crack the case. we'll join them live as think distribute flyers in the neighborhood. in springdale, brad bell, abc7 news. alison: thank you. parker's shooting death now marks the 64th homicide in prince george's county just this year. last year, 54 were killed in the county. several big cities across the country are battling a rise in murders including d.c. and baltimore. jonathan: montgomery county, virginia, schools are closer to banning the confederate symbols and other offensive items from clothing.

first reading has gone through after several students at crashburg high school were suspend -- christian pittsburgh high school were suspended this year. the confederate flag has been protested and supporters say it's part of a free speech issue. since the june 17 church massacre in charleston, south carolina, things changed. scary moments for a tractor-trailer driver in frederick. a crash left it dangling over an embankment. news chopper 7 over the scene. this is this morning west of 340. maryland state police say there was a cadillac that hit the tractor-trailer sending the big truck off the highway. it took two hurs for cranes to pull the truck out on the interstate. nobody was hurt. supporters of mayor muriel bowser are shutting down their pac. it helped elect councilmembers who support bowser.

several on the counsel and the attorney general criticized that. the pac says nobody expected ything in return for a donation but now is returning the money. alison: meanwhile, some opponents of the proposed pepco-exelon merger are demanding a formal investigation. back in august, d.c. public service commission rejected the merger. last month, mayor muriel bowser and exelon announce deal to allow the merger to go forward. now some want the board of ethics to investigate the mig. and the nature of the deal because it came days after they announced they would sponsor a stadium. they said that the sponsorship is not related to the merger but pse will have the final say on that deal. of course it's veterans day. across the country those who serve and are serving are being honored. president obama remembered those who died in battle in a wreath laying at arlington national cemetery and said

it's the country's duty to honor the military men and women long after today. northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg is where one man is biking to make sure a fallen hero's memory lasts. jeff? jeff: this is an awesome story. the bike has come to rest after 200-mile ride that started at 3:00 a.m. oh are you feeling? doing well? hanging in there? just got done a few minutes ago. 13 hours on the road. this was organized by the u.s. marine. how are you feeling? >> i was hungry so i had pizza but i'm feeling great. jeff: this is for lieutenant dan malcolm, a friend of yours, gentleman you need for many years and a marine killed while you were serving together in fallujah in 2004. tell me about him.

an organization that gives financial aid to veterans struggling, wounded or injured. an amazing organization. we'll have more on the big finish that took place in an hour. jeff goldberg, abc7 news. jonathan: when it goes to marines there is nothing physically stupid for these people. nothing. pain is just weakness to the body. jeff: not at all. jonathan: virginia governor terry mcauliffe is announcing that the state has helped personal vant veterans find -- permanent housing. mcauliffe said his state tried topped veteran homelessness in the year. >> other states will look and say how did virginia do it? we want to help other states do it. we want to eliminate veteran homelessness in america. we're a step closer because of what we did leading the way in virginia. jonathan: across virginia there are 800,000 veterans

witnesses help him get out of the car and he runs all the way to the kettering area. it's who was in the home and what happened when he got there to make the story more incredible. stephen tschida has it for us. stephen: a dramatic situation. not far from where i am standing here. a man took a turn at a high rate of speed. the car spun out and flipped over. we have a know toe of the vehicle overturned -- photo of the vehicle overturned. the witnesses pulled him from the vehicle. they said all he would talk about was his children. he needed to get to the children. keyshawn jackson was one of the individuals who ran the help the gentleman. >> knocked out the window and got him out. he then said that he got to get to his kids, his house was on fire. he said that is what caused the accident. stephen: yeah, now, once they

nothing wrong with the brakes. alison: you will want to tread carefully after seeing this report. jonathan: news around the nation. a person is unaccounted for after an explosion leveled a duplex in new jersey. one person was killed in the blast. 15 others injured including an 11-year-old. firefighters now are still rting through the rubble. the mayor says the crews are looking into the possibility that this was caused by a natural gas leak. seven surrounding structures were damaged as a result of this alison: officials in akron, ohio, confirm nine people were killed when a plane slammed in an apartment building. two pilots and the seven passengers on the business jet were killed. it clipped utility wires and crashed in a four-story apartment building. no one was in the apartment at the time. no one on the ground was

injured. >> we have a recovery effort at this point. alison: they will try to determine why the jet crash and leaving behind debris that went down less than two miles from the destination. jonathan: after you see the videotape you will talk about this. amazing video. theskier miraculously surviving a 1,600-foot fall down a mountain. we are seeing the accident from two different angles. t.j. holmes shows us and talks to the man and explained how he survived the fall. reporter: look and listen closely. that is professional skier mcintosh falling down a mountain. cameras and microphones capture every bump and grunt on the way down.

jonathan: veterans day is a time we salute and say thanks to the men and women w rvedo ur country. i wasonored to spend time with a 94-year-old veteran who can recite chapter and verse all the battles he has been in. there has been more than a few. but it's what happened after world war ii he found truly remarkable. >> the grenade or the mortars would fly off the trees and all over the place. jonathan: he remembers

everything. >> i jumped out and i sawh fire. jonathan: from his bethesda senior residence, he can tell you all the battles he fought. >> normendy, northern france. jonathan: but the worst, hercan forest where in a few months americans and 33,000 germans were killed or wounded. >> you felt you wouldn't get out of it alive. jonathan: but he did. in 1944 he was fighting the germans. 55 years later he and his comrades would come back here to perkins to meet the german germans. >> he wrote me a letter that fought against us in the huertgen forest. jonathan: the one-time enemy came toegther.

>> it's unusual. jonathan: they talked. >> we were young. jonathan: shook hands. >> take care of yourself. jonathan: this meeting was the focus of a documentary called "on common ground" and this meeting was 16 years ago. >> time changes a lot of things. including people. jonathan: he says the meeting wasn't awkward. they shared a bond of combat. once enemies, now friends. 16 years after their meeting, many are now gone. with the shelves of memories, two bronze stars and a picture of his wife he lost years ago. he will celebrate the veterans day as he has for many years. >> i think about my comrades more than anything else. jonathan: you saw he had two bronze stars. tell you a quick story. one of the bronze stars came this way. he had a group of maybe 12 or

as the woman found stabbed to death behind an office park yesterday. she worked part time as a paralegal in the office park on new hampshire avenue. anyone with information on her death is asked to call police. jonathan: this is video that has gone viral. two women dancing, one groping a man in the d.c. convenience store. alison: one was in court today. the other is still at large. but now we are hearing someone else is coming forward saying he was targeted by the women as well. d.c. bureau chief sam ford spoke to that man. sam? sam: we're start at d.c. superior court where a judge denied bail for 22-year-old knight for third-degree sexual abuse is what she was charged with. also charging documents here identify the other woman as 23-year-old marjorie charles. the video shows two women twerking and groping a man
