is not something i really wanted to do. but i got the chance and i found out why. this is d.c. fire ops 101. few, like mayor muriel bowser, had an opportunity to be a first responder. mayor bowser: a lot of anxiety, a lot. started withy medical tests and equipment fittings. after a quick pep talk, we were ready. our first scenario was to rescue a cardiac patient. other simulations involved extractions and taking down doors. by far the most intense was the burn building. when i got inside, that is me in front, everything went dark. all i could see was the reflector. was not know who or what around me, just follow the voices. amongst the sounds and uncertainties, a mild panic began to set in.
