french authorities make a startling discovery. jonathan elias at the alert desk with the latest. jonathan: belgium is under the highest alert so there is no school or subways offered. the capitol on lockdown with the heavily armed soldiers on alert. >> we consider we are facing the same threat as yesterday. >> authorities explaining the schools and subways will reopen on wednesday. but brussels will remain under the highest terror alert until monday to call it serious and the attack similar to those in paris. the prosecutor adding part of the ongoing anti-terror operation. a fourth person has been charged in belgium in

connection with the attack. we also learned the search for the eight suspects is intensifying with the investigators believing he is not alone. french officials are examining what looks like an explosive vest in a suburb where the cell phone signal was last located on the night of the attack. the french military is confirming the first airstrike against isis outside of syria. this is on the same day that more victims are laid to rest as the british leaders pay respect to paris. vowing to work together to defeat isis. >> we must do more to tackle the threat of returning foreign fighters. this requires a european effort. jonathan: those are the first french airstrike from the aircraft carrier and that is part of the increased pressure on isis. the u.s. military saying that it is accelerating the attack against the oil trucks because the trucks are a big source of

income for isis. the u.s. has let 203 trucks on saturday alone and the number could exceed 1200. leon: an urgent plea from two syrians days after they arrived on american soil. they made the appeal to larry hogan and brad bell was there. brad: this area in front of the statehouse is known as "lawyers mall." there is a statue or memorial to thurgood marshall and says, "equal judgment under the law." this is gathering place for those who have a problem with got. today, supporters of the syrian refugees. they want hogan to reconsider.

36 degrees there now. what a beautiful day! this is a picture replayed all across the area. there is hardly a cloud in the sky. temperatures are below average. we started below freezing but we managed to hit 40-degree mark. at this hour in winchester, 35 degrees. same in gaithersburg. the morning lows, 25 in winchester. 26 in gaithersburg. 27 the morning low in rockville. everybody now in the mid-30's. the average high is still in the mid-50's. well below average weather indeed throughout the day. as far as what is coming next, a night of the few clouds moving through. the temperatures are plenty cold. 37 in leesburg. 41 in annapolis. with the light winds the temperatures will start to fall. we have a brand of cloudiness that comes through late tonight, overnight and the morning. it might keep temperatures a couple of degrees above last night but it's still sub freezing in most areas. cool air continues and the cold air across the great lakes. 33 in the detroit metropolitan airport. 30 degrees at syracuse.

>> a thanksgiving tradition carrying on in d.c. ward eight. today, volunteers handed out 3,000 turkeys for those in need. volunteers from the marine corps, ghost card and councilmembers participated in the give-away. this was the barry's signature event every year. leon: the tribute is fitting because this is a year since marion barry's death. leon: right now another tribute is underway. d.c. bureau chief sam ford live at the wilson building in northwest washington. what is going on down there?

sam: i will talk low. this is a prayer ceremony and they are starting to remember barry a year after his death. he was in politics for more than 30 years, elected mayor four times, councilmember four times. in the latter years of his life he took on six god children. tonight is the story of one of them. antonio walker. >> he went to church him every sunday. held the bible the last time he was sworn in, 2013. with iphone in hand, he chronicled life as one of the godson's of m.b., marion barry. >> 20 now, he was 14 when he saw him walking his mother. he asked if he could campaign with him. >> just vote for him!

announcer: you're watching "abc7 news at 5:00". on your side. alison: a woman is recovering tonight after a terrifying attack near d.c. convention center. her attacker is still on the loose. a man abducted a woman at knifepoint an hour before sunrise on saturday on 11th street. then he drove her to another location, sexual assaulted and robbed her. stephen tschida joins us live from where the woman was abducted. stephen: it was here on 11th street early saturday morning. we are on the edge of downtown

d.c. a lot of people walk up and down 11th street to and from downtown in this neighborhood right now. a lot of people worried and hoping for an arrest. 11th street northwest on the edge of downtown and in the heart of one of the hottest neighborhoods in d.c. it is here where a man pulled a knife and forced a woman into his vehicle. >> that is really scary for me. i don't know what to do. stephen: it happened saturday morning. a man drove her to fifth street, between p and q street northwest. he kept the knife drawn and robbed the woman. still holding the knife to her, he forced her to have sex with him. >> i work around here. >> it's terrible to hear. >> the man let the woman go and then drove off. now in this neighborhood where so many people live and work, some women say they will no longer walk alone.

was fleeing from a traffic stop when he died in a car accident yesterday. he sped off after an officer tried to pull him over driverring with the headlights off. he crashed in a park car. a female passenger with him suffered serious but not life threatening injuries. alison: belgium capitol is on lockdown amid fears of a terror attack there. they charged people in the attack but they are still looking for salah abdeslam. they found explosive belt in a pile of trash near the site where abdeslam's cell phone was found as well. leon: a heating pad caused a fire where an elderly woman was found unresponseive inside the home. she died at a hospital. vermonts say the home smoke detector was not working. alison: pfizer and alergin is
