electrical cord and a sock as well in a frightening ordeal he says lasted for three hours. this retired 74-year-old ken sing 12:00 who asked us not to identify him said the suspect threatening to kill him a dozen times that day. >> she turned from a mild mannered to a raving maniac. >> the woman knocked on the front door asking to use the bathroom. the same woman returned and she forced her way in. >> she patted her back and said she had a gun. diane: she says she pushed him to the bedroom and threatened to stab him and tied him up and ransacked his home. he was finally able to break free and called 911.

warmer air to the west and the southeast. this is closing in. we have to deal with rain and this is developing from the cold front. low pressure along the front that is another area of the moderate and the heavy rain across alabama and georgia. cutting across east tennessee. we will have that in time for the morning rush. i think we see the rain shut off. as far as the timing 11:30 in the morning and there is plenty of rain in the area. the rain should move out by 5:00 or 6:00 and clearing after that. we're good to go for the upcoming weekend. in the afternoon from west to east the skies will clear around the area.

leon: in the wake of several high profile police brutality lately, d.c. is planning to have transparency. kellye: they want to outfit all officers with the body cameras. stephen tschida has more on what is next and how the program will work. >> the mayor is on board and body cameras, thousands could be coming to the d.c. police department in month ahead. stephen: cell phone video sparkled accusation of brutality but the police maintain recording of the incident would have muted the

police officers charged in the death of freddie gray. the judge says he expects the opening statements to begin in a couple of days and the trial to be completed by christmas. kellye: the picture went viral and police arrested a woman accused of duct taping a dog's mouth shut. the woman from florida posted it on the facebook page with the caption this is what happens when you don't shut up. she was charged with animal cruelty but says the dog seems to be in perfect health, well nourished and up to date with the shots so they are not removing the dog from her home. leon: the counsel approved limits on the construction of the large gas stations. they must be 500 feet from parks and environmentally sensitive areas as costco is appealing a ruling to block construction at 15-pump

kellye: know your status. a message in the fight against hiv and aids for years. today the university of d.c. held a free event to offer-testing in part of a worldwide push to fight virus that causes aids as part of the world aids day. one of the organizations leading the fight is whitman walker help in washington. >> glad to have you with us today. a day to make us think back to the first time we heard about aids with the celebrities and the perception that people, aids and the aids patients

have. 24 years ago when magic johnson announced he had it. huge stigma that day. now charlie sheen announces that he has hiv and we don't talk about it two days later. we have come a long way with the perception of the disease. >> we have. hiv can be managed, treated and lived with like any other chronic disease like diabetes or hepatitis. kellye: has the testing of it changed? >> it hasment we encourage people to know the status. >> the drugs have come a long way. there could be blowback because prevention of spreading is easier so the riskier behavior is taking place. do you see that?

>> that is something that the clients face on a daily basis, the perception. that it's less risky but we want to let them know hiv is preventible disease. they need not expose themselves to it. kellye: what are the biggest challenges? >> the biggest thing we see is the not verity. pervasive stigma. folks still think that hiv is very contagious. so they will exclude the family members who might be diagnosed with the hiv. >> good luck. kellye: amy, we appreciate it. >> remember folks that the legal team from whitman walker health is in the newsroom. they are hear to answer the legalquestions.

leon: a heart-breaking story but it has led to outpouring of support. kellye: a tipster led "7 on your side" to a mother living in the car with eight children and she told us that agency after agency said they could not help because they had too many children. our fighting back reporter jennifer donelan took it from there and boy did you help the family out. jennifer: a moving and an emotional day. too many children is what she was told over and over.

a tipster called and said she was in a parking lot and we found her. we got on the horn with the services and they placed the entire family in temporary housing where we are told they will stay until a permanent solution is found. after her story hit the air, many viewers wrote in and called in and wanted to help the mother and the children. so we got back on the phone and now a d.c. church is getting involved and will facilitate any assistance. i spoke with a branch president who is working to help the family and they are more than happy to help you help the family. i spoke with maria today. we want to get the kids settled. she is so happy and so grateful. she just kept saying thank you, thank you, thank you. leon: lucky that someone saw

her and contacted us. i can't believe she is the only one out there. >> no. leon: anied what is happening out there? jennifer: i walked in the family resource center in northeast d.c. where family goes to get services, my heart shattered. there were so many other marias. it was filled with mothers, i'll say that 95% of the room was mothers and the little kids. they were all looking for a place to live. a place to lay their head down. they needed shelter. that is a reality of what is going on in the city. i gave maria great, i just said you are so courageous. kellye: to go on tv and tell the story. jennifer: she was a brave woman. leon: the age range of the kids? >> 1-year-old twins, 3-year-old, 4-year-old boy -- they are all girls except for the 4-year-old boy. 11, 13, 15. one baby has a disability. >> a lot on her.

the rain has ended but it's moving back to the area. this is the leading edge of a batch of rain that is coming farther southwest. heavier rain that luck would have it is in time for the rush hour tomorrow morning. the got news is it is going to push through the area but the question is to nail down the time. this is going to push eastward in the day but it looks as though it should taper off and in by 5:00 or 6:00. most of us have to wait until thursday for sunshine. but when we will be good to go. showers tomorrow, tapering off late in the day and becoming breezy. highs near 59. that is 10 degrees warmer than today.

force he created plans to combat the emergency. john reidell has a look. reporter: i asked what is the most important problem facing the community? he said heroin. he reflects on the voter feedback? the campaign. despite the stigma attached to the karen abuse the task force discovered the problem to transcend rage, ace and the social owe economic status. they have drafted 33 regulations aim to control the drug. >> there is no one silver bullet but this is a whole listic approach to take. this will have more from the addiction side and the treatment side. >> difficult to hear from the parents who lost children. the chair of the task force. >> treatment, the ability to go after the network and the traffickers.

school. leon: sam ford is live there with the story. >> at this point a juvenile has been arrested at the wilson high school. the police are still investigating. on wilson they were on high alert for a time. the school said the incident occur around 1:15. according to students who spoke with us, a youth was bragging about bringing a gun to school and showed it to a girl who took a picture of him with the gun and put it on the social media site snap chat. with is that theingadministratin found out about it. they sent out an e-mail saying that the gun has been surrendered to the police. >> the row action? >> the school is doing a good
