uncovering daring tactics, next. >> from abc 7 news, this is a breaking news alert. leon: the breaking news is from fairfax county where the police are at the scene of a shooting in annandale near little river turnpike. jay korff is live at the scene. what are you hearing right now? confirm theice shooting occurred across the street from where i'm standing at about 9 p.m. they are searching for suspects and information. moments ago, a witness told me she heard one shot, came out of a nearby business, heard a second shot. she looked across the street and said a woman was standing over the male victim who was on the ground on a surface road and she said that the woman was cursing at the victim and taking him. she could not see much after that because it was foggy. she then said the woman and a

man got into a vehicle and drove off, and not vehicle -- and that vehicles possibly white. told by thee are authorities that the victim was transported to an area hospital still breathing and conscious. they are searching for suspects. jay korff, abc 7 news. gas that odorless leads to lung cancer may be inside of your child's classroom. a reportst obtained that showed 28 montgomery county schools with hazardous levels of radon. now parents are speaking out. tom roussey has how the parents are responding to the health and safety concerns at a meeting. tom? tom: a lot of folks came to that meeting, leon. the big question for many parents and employees, is it safe to come here? and the concern goes well beyond this school. >> i'm outraged.

tom: some falls meade elementary school parents with radon concerns left unsatisfied with the meeting with county officials. >> this is the worst presentation i've ever seen in my life. this powerpoint could have been done by my fourth grader. tom: what brought people out here was a story that abc 7 broke last week. several montgomery county schools, including falls meade, had radon levels over the epa limit. a pta meeting,as there were folks from as far away as silver spring which has classrooms that tested more than double the epa limit. >> i find it inexcusable we were not informed about this when you found out. linda crawford believes that her building has made her sick. >> i'm sick now. will i have lung cancer when i get older? tom: officials say they messed

investigators. the guard said that he grabbed smith because he was being difficult and tried to resist. then one guard put in armor around smith's and neck until he stopped breathing. black guys come he had massive bruises on his neck. richard: smith pronounced dead at the hospital had been in custody of special police. his mother says that prosecutors are reviewing the case. she says the two guards involved are suspended, police powers revoked, but no criminal charges. their licenses taken, that's all they are going to do? >> none of the information has been provided to me and my family. notard: the family does know what smith was doing outside of the apartment complex at 4:00 in the morning. they are asking for a fully independent investigation. says they cannot comment because this is part of a continuing probe. richard reeve, abc 7 news.

leon: developing now, chicago's police superintendent is out. superintendent garry mccarthy was fired today, the police department facing harsh criticism over the shooting death of a black teenager. it officer is facing murder charges in the case. city officials have been accused of covering up video evidence for over a year. promised toayor create a task force on law enforcement accountability. more u.s. special forces are heading to iraq and syria to aid in the war on terror. the pentagon is not saying how many servicemembers are going overseas, but they say the troops will play an active role combating isis, including freeing hostages and gathering evidence. this is on the heels of a new study about terror recruitment. -- program on extremes him extremism at georgetown university showed an alarming
