weather center in arlington. here's ooh look athe bell haven country club. you can see the raindrops on the camera lens. of course all you do is lift the clouds off the ground and improv the fog. the dense fog advisory is restricted now to baltimore county and anna-lena friedsam county. visibility isthere. visibility coming up two miles so progress but we will not see the end of the rain until much later this afternoon or evening. 65 at regan national. still 46 degrees in winchester, and there it is on doppler radar. i could close my eyes and touch screen and pretty much anywhere would be rain, drizzle and fog. a huge area of high pressure tomorrow will be with us. complete details on those and i think you will like what you hear. jummy: thank you doug. we turn now to the freddy gray

case. a jury has been seated in the trial of officer william porter. he is the first of six officers to go to trial. our sam swinney is in the ewsroom. >> they started with 150 potential jurors. eight women, four men and four male alternates. these jurors went through a lot of scrutiny. the trick was to find a jury and it would be almost impossible to find a juror that did not know about this case. william porter was the first officer charged with the death of gray and prosecutors say he ignored depray's pleas for

medical help from the back of that van. they say if the prosecutors fail to convict in this case it would be nearly impossible in the upcoming trials and opening statements are likely to begin shortly. my colleague brad bell is inside that courtroom. we will have updates beginning at 4:00 p.m. jummy: sam, thank you. now we turn to the war on terror. defense secretary ash carter announcing a new plan putting special forces on the ground to carry out missions in iraq and syria. we have the latest on the new military action. >> two of the world's biggest military forces are planning stepped-up action in the war against isis. here secretary of defense ash carter announcing a new opposite force. it would conduct raids, gather

jummy: we turn now to vote 2016 and republican presidential candidate donald trump will be in new york today. he will hold a rally in manassas. he is scheduled to speak at 7:30 at the prince william fair deprounds. by the way the gates open at 5:00 p.m. this evening. and a new quinnipiac university poll finding trump has a 10-point lead over his nearest republican competitors and also has hillary clinton with a two to one lead over berny sanders and shows general election voters are switching their support from the republican candidate toward clinton and anders and in a head-to-head face-off clinton would beat trump. jummy: two dogs were rescued

from a burning home. we are in landover hills with the details on that investigation. >> well, this was an intense fire. take a look at the debris in front of this home. fire investigators placing the orange sticker on the front door showing it is condemned. we are told the homeowner, a man in his 60's is legally blind. he and his oldest daughter and a dog were able to rush over to a neighbor's home to call 911. th are in the hospital now a pit bull om inand so protective of the owner crews mannot able to get to the

and daughter inside. >> i got a call from my aunt. i missed the first one saying my father was in the hospital. >> they were banging on my door hard and i asked what was wrong and looked out and saw all the smoke and flames and they asked me to call 911 then both passed out. >> it's unclear exactly what started it but it looks like it started in the atic in the rear of the home. there is a fire place back there but we are told it hasn't been used in years. in landover hills, john gonzalez, abc abc news. jummy: and police are searching for the man who shot a man in annandale. witnesses say after the man was shot they saw a woman kicking him while he was on the ground. she later took off.

there's still no word on the victim's condition. and authorities are trying to figure out what led to a deadly crash in frederick county this morning. maryland police say the car crossed the median just past route 15 and went down a wooded embankment. the passenger, 25-year-old lauren miller died at the scene. the driver 25-year-old justin rogers is in the hospital. no word on what caused that crash. jummy: and this is one of the tweets and pictures sent out by a passenger. the disabled train we're told s outside the west fair gate avenue and the breakdown caused delays on all three lines this morning. and fog causing problems. jamie sullivan has a look at the

west you are of washington, the cooler it is. fairly mild metro area. 54. so we are here comfortable enough. we just have to deal with rain a little longer this afternoon. in this presentation the areas of dark green. a few moderate downpours. there is a back edge developing ahead of a cold front. as you get farther west skies are starting to clear. high pressure will build in. give us delightful weather. let's talk about the capitol tree lighting. a drizzle in the air and just a chance for a few showers for this evening. as far as what's going to happen over the next few days, a radsical change in the weather pattern.

partly sunny and breezy tomorrow but pleasant with temperatures around 50 degrees for an afternoon high temperature and as we get through the afternoon we will see those temperatures pretty much steady down, because i think we will find out cooler air will be delayed a bit not coming in until later tomorrow night so through the christmas at lighting we are looking temperatures going down to 45 degrees, not too bad and through friday and the weekend it looks spectacular. sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the 50's. we don't see any chance of rain until next tuesday. for national harbor and our toys for tots we are going to be in fine shape. cool gets you in the holiday spirit. toys for tots dropoff until 11:00 p.m. and a lot of abc 7 and channel 8 newspeople will be

there. i will be there for the great event. jummy: i will be up there saturday morning. to sports now where nba star kobe bryant is opening up about his decision to leave the game. ever since bryant decided this season will be his last fans have flocked to arenas to see the best ever one last time. although they may not be seeing his best performances this season he told robin roberts he doesn't mind hearing the negative comments. cowboy i wouldn't have it any other way. you can't expect to just take the good. you have to take the good with the bad. one thing that i can share with the younger generation is to accept it all. jummy: you can catch kobe as he takes on the washington 1/3 tonight. the uppers are going for about $56 and 200 level seats are going for around $240.
