obama: let's not forget that freedom is more powerful than fear. jay: 130 people were killed in paris with the islamic state taking credit. last week, a couple reportedly inspired by the barbaric dogma of isis. president obama: so far we have no evidence they were part of a broader conspiracy at home. but it is clear the two of them had gone down the dark path of radicalization. jay: the president faces criticism on his strategy combating isis, despite targeted airstrikes sections, a diplomatic efforts mr. obama said will continue. he said the u.s. will continue to train and equip forces fighting isis on the ground and work toward stopping syrian civil war.

very cold at the bus stops tomorrow, 28 some fog. 54 in the afternoon. the next three days, really good december weather continues. just have to get past the morning hours with the fog and frost. it will take a few extra minutes to scrape off the windshields. we will discuss a possibly warm next weekend and the complete outlook in a few minutes. kimberly: big developments in a story that you first saw on 7 -- m dangerous levels of radon at schools in montgomery county. the schools are taking additional measures to keep your kids safe. roz plater is live in rockville to explain. roz: kimberly, we are told this is not just a re-testing but a revamping of the sys to monitor and test for the potentially dangerous gas. abc 7 was the first to tell you

about they radon issue in montgomery county public schools, 28 locations with levels that top the epa recommended limit. one location even register 11.9. late sunday, the superintendent sent parents a letter thing not only are the 28 schools being retested but all 205 of the county schools will be retested. >> it is out of an abundance of caution to get a baseline set of data going forward to establish a comprehensive radon mitigation program. roz: the colorless, odorless gas can seep into the building's foundation. because prolonged exposure can cause lung cancer, parents are worried. >> i'm really scared for the students who had been up through high school. roz: at a meeting last week school officials said the 28 schools should have been retested and steps taken to do get the radon levels down but somebody dropped the ball. >> i don't have any good reasons

wjla.com. new tonight, a crash shutdown columbia pike in both directions for hours tonight. a driver crashed into a brick wall near the air force memorial. the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. montgomery county firefighters are watching a large mulch fire in colesville. a spokesman posted this video of the fire on twitter. it started last night on new hampshire avenue. the fire has been contained but is expected to burn all night. a lot of people have been asking about it. no buildings are in danger. some northwest businesses had to be evacuated for several hours because of a hand grenade. a woman brought the hand grenade to the fourth district police station this morning to dispose of it safely. officers had to evacuate the station and nearby stores, restaurants, and homes were

tyson admitted that she spoiled a surprise presentation. >> i told viola. i said, what you mean? i know her. she waved to me. it was supposed to be a surprise. kimberly: i love that, i played her mother, i know her. the kennedy center ceremony will air later this month on tv. a big event on the lips to mark the first night of hanukkah. the white house chief of staff helped light the national hanukkah menorah. he is a lifetime catholic, but he said a person of faith is always moved by the demonstration of faith. the ceremony included live music from the u.s. marine corps band. it was a lovely night to be outside, just surprising to say of december.
