november 12 in the 900 block. there is a warrant out for his arrest. we understand from sources they tried to serve the warrant this morning at 8:30. you see the results now. we have a standoff. the schools were let out. they were working with the school to make sure it was a safe release. students that live in the area are kept at school until it's safe. we are out here and we will bring you the latest as soon as we get it. live from northwest, jennifer donelan, back to you. alison: thank you. testimony today could very well decide the outcome for the first trial in the death of freddie gray. baltimore police officer william porter took the stand in his own defense. maryland bureau chief brad bell was there. how did he explain what happened inside the police van? brad: you know, that is an

interesting thing. he says he can't explain what happened inside that police van because he was unaware that freddie gray had any sort of injury at all. now he just left the stand about a half an hour ago. the court has heard from another police officer. clearly porter's testimony was the most important thing to happen today. under direct questioning from his lawyer, officer william porter said he didn't seek immediate help for freddie gray last april because he saw no evidence of injury. a dramatic moment coming when one of the lawyers went face down on the courtroom floor, hands behind his back as gray was in the police van. porter acting out how he helped gray on a bench claiming that gray was not injured and able to use his muscles to help. porter claiming that it wasn't until the van arrived at the police station he discovered gray near death with spinal cord injury.

asked why he didn't secure him with a seat belt he said in 150 arrests he never saw a prisoner belt and to do so would expose the gun to the prisoner's hands. officer porter is accused of manslaughter. prosecutors say he could have saved freddie gray's light but grossly neglected his duty. outside of court worries a about what happens when the verdict is rendered. today in a city scarred from hiding after gray's death an appeal from the mayor. for calm. >> whether you agree or disagree with the verdict our reaction needs to be one of respect. >> baltimore police officers are saying the officers are better prepared to handle the case of civil disobedience. with regard to the trial it's

tough to know what is happeningest in. all the lawyers are under a gag order be but we believe the case could go to the jury soon. alison: the officer face tas years in prison if convicted. this is the first of six trials in the freddie gray case. leon: happening today in chicago protesters angry over the police-involved violence are marching through the streets. it began after rahm emanuel apologized at the city council meeting apologized for the handling of the case of a teenage shot 16 times. former d.c. mayor vincent gray will not face criminal charges in the long-running scandal surrounding his 2010 campaign. the attorney general closed the investigation today.

leon: a federal judge has a trial date involving a civil lawsuit against a virginia student against the state alcohol bureau control agency. he is suing the abc. he was arrested and there was a bloody altercation caught on camera. the a.b.c. says he tried to enter a bar with a fake i.d. the trial scheduled for fall. alison: for the second time in a week is montgomery county police officer has been injured in a confrontation with a suspected drunk driver. this time in a wild police chase. jeff goldberg shows us how it came to an end.
