[captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. visit ncicap.org] jummy: that breaking news right now, authorities are investigating and unspecified threat to the los angeles unified school district. the electronic threat prompted the district to close all schools this morning. the superintendent said the threat was not directed at one specific school, but to many and has asked that all schools be searched. the district is the second-largest in the nation, with 640,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

stay with us right here for the very latest updates. also happening right now, a city on edge. the jury is back in a baltimore courtroom this noon deliberating the fate of officer william porter, one of six police officers charged in the death of freddie gray. sam sweeney is live outside the courtroom with the very latest. sam? sam: deliberations began at a: 30 this morning. by 9:00 they had their first request, they came out and asked for posted notes and highlighters. they resumed deliberations after the judge granted the request and then shortly after at 9:10 the defense came and filed a motion for a mistrial. yesterday afternoon, students went home from baltimore city public schools and were talking about not riding after the verdict comes out, to remain peaceful. the judge denied a request.

at 11:00 the jury came out with another request. they wanted computer speakers so that they could play audio from the trial. the judge granted that. they are looking over all of their work. they have been asked to go through each piece of evidence and it appears by the request that they are doing that and they will continue to have deliberations throughout the day. they will take a recess for lunch and they will resume at 1:00. if there is no verdict they will end again tonight at 5:30 and do it again tomorrow at 8:30. we are following every part of this trial and if the verdict comes down this afternoon we will bring it to you live on-air or online. reporting live in baltimore, sam sweeney. jummy: thank you for the update, sam. as he said, stay with us as we continue to follow the latest in this case. we will let you know when the verdict comes down and we will have live team coverage. we will have live updates from

the courtroom at wjla.com. this noon we are following new information about a 27-year-old teaching assistant in custody -- who died in the custody of d.c. police. it is being ruled as a homicide. it happened in the hallway of the marbury plaza apartme southeast. he was in the custody of special police officers, armed private security guards licensed by the district. smith was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. d.c. police tell us that they are still investigating the case and so far no one has been charged. developing this new, idc d.c. elementary school teacher is charged with cruelty to children . cameron lewis of hyattsville teaches at turner elementary in southeast. police say that he grabbed an eight-year-old so hard that it left a visible handprint am sent the boy to the nurses office in tears. lewis has been removed him his teaching responsibilities during the investigation.

police are now asking anyone who may have had similar incidents with lewis to give them a call. police and prince george's county are investigating two deadly shootings just minutes away from each other. the first one was on 50 third place and hyattsville, coming just minutes after a different shooting in glendale. jeannette reyes is there with new details in the newsroom from the last two hours. jeanette: prince george's county police any busy this week, three homicides already and it's just the beginning of the week. the last two happened really around the same time, 9:15 yesterday evening. the first one, take a look behind me near do all high school on good luck road. prince george's county police arrived on the scene saying that they found the man shot twice at the apartment complex. there were also gunshot holes in the black -- in the back of a black vehicle. he was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. not long ago police learned more about the second murder on 50

third place in riverdale. authorities say the victim was 52-year-old luis montague. it was not believe that the shooting was random. police found montague inside of his home with multiple gunshot wounds. police aren't charging -- police are encouraging anyone with information to give them a call and are offering a reward to anyone who can give information that lead to an arrest in the shootings. jeannette reyes, abc 7 news. julie: following -- jummy: following a set update to the story we brought you yesterday. the pedestrian struck in annapolis has died yesterday -- has died. he was struck yesterday near calvert street. he was rushed to anne arundel medical center, where he died. police have not yet released the victim's name. other news happening right now funeral services are underway for officer noah leotta.

he died last week after he was hit by assist -- suspected drunk driver. john gonzalez is in gaithersburg with how he's being remembered. john: hundreds if not thousands of police officers from various jurisdictions in maryland, virginia, d.c., even west virginia have arrived today. the funeral of the montgomery county police officer, noah leotta. this is a program that was handed out at the door of the covenant life church here in gaithersburg. that red ribbon was also given out here at the church. this is a simple message that we have heard so many times, such a powerful message today. don't rink and drive. i want to show you the front of the church year. you can see the hearse that carried the body of this very popular policeman. 24-year-old noah leotta died last week from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a

suspected drunk driver on rockville pike. moments ago we spoke with a pastor who described him not only is a great police officer and a great human being, but a pretty good officer. >> later he told me that -- pretty good mentor. >> later who told me that noah had been a mentor to him. he's been impacted deeply. john: the program includes a police officer's prayer -- which starts -- i ask for courage lord, to face my fears. an officer told me today that they should not even start to try to figure out why tragedies like these happen. after the funeral there will be a long police procession that will lead everyone to the memorial gardens in maryland where officer noah leotta will be buried. in gaithersburg, john gonzalez, abc seven news.

jummy: well, there are several roads closed in gaithersburg for the funeral procession this afternoon. jamie: we are starting off with some of these closures. keep in mind, shady grove road has been blocked off to woodfield. the best alternate will be to go ahead and use airpark road. all lanes are again blocked and of course at some point once this wraps up and they do have the funeral procession headed towards gaithersburg, a lot of our side roads will be fully blocked off getting there. as we move now to take a live look outside, 395, your commute headed northbound is a little bit congested from edsall road continuing closer to seminary road. that's for you have this in place. slowing for you right now averages were only in the teens. 11 miles per hour in some spot.

jummy: getting to vote 2016 now donald trump is setting his sights on virginia and naming the head of the prince william's board of supervisors, cory stewart, to head up his campaign in the commonwealth. he was one of the first proponents for a government sponsored plan to target illegal immigrants. trump kicked off his campaign by calling mexicans rapists and criminals and has since proposed a ban on muslims traveling to the u.s.. stewart tells the post that he does not agree with the band and says he is using this opportunity to smooth out relations between the presidential candidate and muslim americans. once again trump will be the big target of tonight's fifth and final gop debate of 2015. our senior political reporter, scott thuman, is in las vegas

antidepressants later in pregnancy with an increased risk of autism. researchers highlight one particular group of drugs called sfr ipod including prozac and zoloft. worries that the findings could scare women off antidepressants experts cautioned the overall risk of autism remains very small. aaa is out with its holiday travel outlook for the d.c. area. the number of holiday travelers nationwide is expected to top 100 million for the first time on record. 2.4 9 million people on the d.c. metro area are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, up more than 1% from last year because of the surge in the number of travelers you can of course expect crowded airports and highways. december 23, by the way expected to be the busiest travel day. the year-end holiday travel time runs from december 23 through january 3.
