you witnessed quite a bit this afternoon. brad: yeah, it has been a busy afternoon. right now it is fairly quiet. this is the scene outside the courthouse where we got the word that the jury was hung. there is a group of a dozen two dozen, maybe protesters that is making a big circle around the city hall, around around the block. they are peaceful. they are chanting. signs.e carrying but yeah, word came down this afternoon that this jury was deadlocked. the judge declared a mistrial. has also announced that this officer will be tried again. we have an update. now says that he will meet with the attorneys tomorrow. ahead and getgo scheduling worked out for a new trial. so there was some protest when out.came people saying that they were angry. perhaps not understanding that there would be a retrial. that there was not a guilty plea. you can hear a young man had

something to say as he walks by me now. that is what is going on. they are peaceful. heavy police presence. not long after the judge declared the mistrial we heard the mayor of the city asking people for peace and calm. >> mayor rawlings-blake: all believe in justice must have respect for the outcome of the judicial process. ofs is our american system justice. brad: now, we also heard this afternoon from freddie gray's familyand the attorney. with regard to this notion angryeople should be about what happened here today. the attorney said simply the angry so no one else should be. freddie gray's stepfather had this to say. >> we are not at all upset with them.

leon: tonight we continue to follow breaking news from baltimore where a judge declared a mistrial in the of baltimore police officer william porter. he was charged in the death of freddie gray. the judge declared the mistrial after the jurors said they couldn't reach a verdict of the four charges after deliberating for three days. baltimore city state attorney, officer plans to retrial porter. we're told. the retrial date should be tomorrow. he is first of six baltimore police officers on trial for
