>> this is a breaking news alert. jummy: in the last hour, police announced the arrest in the murder of a man stabbed to death at a playground in prince george's county. adam jones is charged with first and second degree murder in the death of douglas reyes. his body was found yesterday. john gonzalez talked with the family.

john: this is cell phone video from sunday night showing douglas reyes on his way to 7-eleven with his uncle, excited to get his daily mocha. it seemed like he was excited to get in the van. >> that is his passion. he will go anywhere to get his mocha. john: douglas was here at the basketball court. this is where police found the man stabbed to death, to be four hours after that video. >> he was a good and friendly boy. john it: there are clear signs that he was attacked and then killed here. family and friends are having hard time understanding why this would happen to such a gentle man.

>> he would say hello and goodbye. he was really sweet. all of this is -- i can't believe it. john: around 5:00 last night they found the body right here next to the basketball hoop. this is where they will hold a candlelight vigil for douglas tonight. >> he was the sweetest guy. he roamed. he stopped cars. he talked to people in cars. john: he had severe physical and mental disabilities. >> he did not deserve anything like this to happen it to him. jummy: such a said story. a rainy and cloudy start here tuesday. we have more wet weather expected tomorrow. let's get to jug -- doug hill. doug: it's cloudy now outside.

for new year's eve and new year's day. we will cover that coming up in just a few minutes. jummy: while we're in the clear, much of the country is battling winter weather. it is barely to the northeast. the cleanup from those tornadoes in texas is giving way to ice and even sleep. we are in garland with a look at the wild weather. >> sleep hitting boston as the region gets its first major snowfall. weather is the laying dozens of planes at logan airport. in missouri, four soldiers were swept away in a car in this roadway and killed. there were successful rescues. overnight in illinois, the school bus carrying a high school basketball team skidded off the road into floodwaters.

now rivers are streaming over their banks. volunteers are scrambled to pair as the mississippi river will crest higher than it has in 22 years. >> we've never been faced with it being so fast. >> now this storm is barreling toward the northeast. it's bringing sleet, snow, and freezing rain. you can see the cleanup still has a long way to go. crews here are busy at work. jummy: the storms once again are causing delays. this is chicago'hare airport. some passengers were not be able to leave until wednesday. according to flight tracking

it's a little slow through there. it's not as smooth as we were hoping for. on this week between christmas and new year's, we have slightly different traffic patterns. it is slowing down again on i-95 in virginia. this is the southbound side of i-95. we will take it a little bit farther south. we have more delays of south of that as you head down past 234. it certainly not a smooth ride. northbound, we are ok. in the beltway, we are on the outer loop. the outer loop is heading westbound. this is looking pretty good.

that's a look at your midday traffic. back to you. jummy: a homeless man is in custody after he stabbed and robbed a man who gave him money on christmas eve. the victim was in ritchie highway. edward kramer approached the man. he started walking away and he pulled a knife and stabbed him in the forehead and demanded all of his money. kramer told the man he was not going to be more on christmas. he was arrested a short time later. the money was recovered. police have identified a cyclist killed. this happened last night along turkey branch parkway. frank towers was killed when his bicycle crashed into a pickup truck. the cause of that crash is still under investigation. a massive manhunt has come to an

-- headlights. jummy: search and rescue crews finally spotted him. he was hallucinating. he was alive. he was recently released from the hospital bed he is now doing fine. single-digit temperatures. doug: that's absolutely amazing. jummy: for us, rain for most of the day today. doug: i think it's out. i think we have some sunshine. tomorrow will be mostly rain free. it's a bit chilly. i will give you look at conditions as they appear in the sky. this is a little time lapse. the clouds lift up and cut a clear. we see a few spots around the greater washington area. i do think we will see of sunshine to the area.

the temperature should start to respond. these are well above average temperatures. i think we can do that are than 49 or 50 depending on the sunshine. some spots will be over the 60 degree mark. trust and is the warm spot. look at the west, rapid city is five above. the snow continues in minneapolis. the cold air will moderate a bit. we will have highs in the low 40's for the weekend. change is coming. would have an energy source behind this. it will increase cloudiness. it will give us a slight chance of showers. high pressure is large. it will take over and control the weather through new year's eve.

that is high-pressure moving in. we will have plenty of chilly air to go around. let's talk about the 30th day of december, tomorrow. clouds will increase. we will have a glimmer of son. look at the temperature. all above average again. there is a chance for a few evening showers. the forecast, partly cloudy skies. we will go into the new year with sunshine and chilly temperatures. we will have mostly sunny skies. by monday, it looks like temperatures will hold of the mid 40's. that is about average. there will begin to be a warm-up. it's a little early to tell. it may be back toward the 60 degree mark. nothing would surprise me. jummy: i be happy with 50's or 60's. autria: it's win-win for you.
