stephen: they spent a day crafting response to the medical examiner's findings and an hour ago i got an e-mail at the hospital that stated that the death of james mcbride devastated everyone here at the hospital. sings the death -- since the death, medstar added new training for the security staff and we learned the two security guards in the incident are long gone. >> james mcbride, a medstar patient left the hospital september 29 wearing only his gown. a nurse caught up with him a short distance from the entrance. she walked him back they encountered two security guards. some type of altercation led to a series of injuries which proved fatal. >> it's ugly.

arrest made today. what is the latest? >> you know what? a terrible story. yesterday morning the predawn hours in the residential neighborhood. guy delivering newspapers spotted a body. the police got on the case quickly and they were able to make arrests. and tonight, an abc7 crew member is actually getting a little bit of credit for helping uncover piece of evidence. >> the neighbors were horrified to come up with a crime scene. i looked out and found a body out there. my gosh. >> the victim, 32-year-old larry ellis had a long criminal record. for guns and drugs. there was evidence they knew each other. >> they believe it's a gun robbery gone bad. >> last night they arrested two men, james baskins and tyron taylor. both charged with first-degree

murder. they were assisted by abc7. the photographer travis washington spotted a cell phone near the murder scene and showed the crime scene investigators. the spokesperson said the tips are always appreciated. >> this was the member of the media and the community. we appreciate the help we got. our detectives established what they needed to build this case. and the piece of evidence supported that. >> tonight the suspects are being held without bond. in port washington, brad bell, abc7 news. alison: thank you. firefighters are looking for the cause of a house fire. this is the view right here from the news chopper 7. crews battles the flames. a person inside the home made it out safely. with the family two dogs. there was little they could go

against fast-moving flames. several floors collapsed. as the fire burned an and a half. >> investigators say a power line sparked the house fire in new carrollton sunday afternoon. witnesses told abc7 a wire fell on the roof and seconds later the house burst into flames. woman and her child inside heard the wire fall and they were able to make it out of the home safely. alison: you might remember the pit bull standing guard over the owner. it made headline last month. now the woman, that dog was protecting, is under arrest. leon: across the country, a close eye from oregon. hours ago an antigovernment group listed demands in a

standoff. the members say they are planning to stay put until justice is done. jonathan elias is monitoring the situation and in the satellite center. >> they have a few titles. one are armed patriots. they want a response from the government in five days. they are asking from clemency for dwight and steve hammond who were convicted of arson for setting fires on federal land in 2001 and 2006. the group wants the national wildlife refuge to be turned over to the local authority to use it without federal oversight. the land was national refuge in 1908 but protesters say the government overstepped the bounds. our purpose as we have shown is so restore and defend the

constitution. that each person is protected by it. leon: that was ammon bundy. his father cliven bundy had a high-profile standoff last year inness and now they are leading this militia in oregon. there is about 20 people in standoff. the white house says president obama is aware of the situation and hopes it will bed peacefully. alison: thank you. bahrain and sudan are the latest countries to cut diplomatic ties with iran. saudi arabia ended relations with iran over the weekend. this comes after protesters stormed the saudi arabian

embassy to protest the execution shiite muslim cleric. leon: concerns about the impact of the severed ties on oil prices, it took a toll on the stock market. the dow tumbled 460 points out of the gate. it has started to regain ground. the losses were so steep in china a circuit breaker system stopped trading on the two exchanges. the stocks were lower there on concern about the china economy as well as instability in the middle east. >> toward the end zone. touchdown! crowder! alison: not a lot of excitement from the announcers on the record-setting pass but it made kirk cousins the first washington quarterback to throw three touchdowns in the first quarter. how about that? the fans are hoping to see that many if not more this weekend against the packers. the tickets, well, they sold in less time it takes to play

the wind chill is lower because of the wind velocity. it feels like 16 in baltimore. 19 in winchester. 15 in hagerstown. the future cast, we concentrate on what it feels like at 6:30 in the morning. it will feel from four to eight to nine degrees around the metro area tomorrow morning. through the day with a full day of sunshine, the wind chill will be in the 20's all day long. air temperatures are in the mid-30's. that is seven or eight degrees below average. that only happened once. one day in the month of december. we had snow flurry west of the appalachians. the rain is coming to the coast. i could be a rainy stretch for the west again as the strong el nino pattern continues.

alison: officers seized dogs from a rockville home over the weekend. kevin lewis found the director of the animal service division and says the staff can't recall a case this large. kevin: behind the wooded door lives a woman and 66 dogs. >> it is remarkable to me. kevin: staff at the animal service facility is perplexed by the fine. >> in the world of animal shelter it's a five-alarm fire. we doubled the dog population in one day. >> they responded to a dog bite home and the officers returned the next day and discovered dogs of the shapes and sizes. >> they responding to a case.

leon: we have breaking news out of georgetown where we just learned that police are asking people to stay away from k-street between 29th and wisconsin avenue. the swat team arrived at the location in the last few minutes for a barricade situation. k-street is closed in the area between 27th and wisconsin avenue. tom roussey is also on the scene of a metro bus crash to tell us what is going on there. tom: believe it or not on alabama avilez ten people were transported to the hospital. this is the bus. a car made a left-hand turned and the driver had to brake so hard that ten people inside suffered minor injuries. ten transported to the local homes. several hospitals are tod by the fire and the e.m.s. this bus has been moved slightly. this isn't where it happened.

that are picking up people here at the 1400 irving street and northwest are not obeying the law. it's affecting him. >> this is embarrassing. >> how many air cleaners do you have in here? >> four or five. >> earnest dowan is doing all he can to stay in his apartment. about a year ago, vietnam vet moved in the second floor apartment at victory heights in northwest. directly across the street is a bus stop. he says it's making his life miserable. he says the buss are not following the district law and are idling to send fumes his way. "7 on your side" set up a hidden camera on a fairly warm monday afternoon to recorded for 30 minutes. in that time, five buses parked here. the longest idled for 11 minutes.

the shortest for six. occasionally two idled together. only one bus turned off the engine. even though all of them parked next to the sign. still idling. >> is this a difficult law to enforce? >> it is a difficult issue. chris: difficult but important. according to julia christian with the department of energy and environment. d.c. idling law dates back to the '80's where most commercial vehicles can only idle for up to three minutes. five if it's below freezing. the first fine is $500. each fine after that doubles up to four grand. in 2015 they collected $28,500. in 51 fines. >> it probably seems like a flexible law. they give us a statement saying we have taken immediate
