improve their lives. one woman is swearing off all forms of social media for a year. suzanne kennedy says why that may not be as easy. suzanne: this woman is going cold turkey. >> i knew i had to make a drastic change. it was social media that i had to give up. suzanne: this former teacher turned education advocate's schooling herself on how to give a bad habit. >> going to the bus stop you pull up the phone. it has become a crutch. she made a promise last month that on january 1 she would shut it down, disconnect so she can reconnect. >> you do not realize how much control it has over you until you are forced to think about what you're going to do with all this free time. suzanne: she estimates that she was spending up to five hours per day on different social media sites. she says she is not anti-social media, just that it is a problem
