lancaster, delhi oh. ohio. temperatures are falling. this whole pattern is headed our way. let me tell you a couple things about what his headed this way. some rain showers on the leading edge of the system. it is about the temperature. in ohio, temperatures have started to plummet quickly and because of that the snow is sticking. what's going to happen around here is we're still in the lower 40's even another snow to the north in pennsylvania. the them -- the mountain range will block a fair amount of it but as we get through 3:00 to 7:00, we'll get gusty winds. ,ain showers, snow squalls falling temperatures and there could be in some places especially north and west of the some slick spots. it will get very cold tonight. offhing that does not melt

subscribe. other news developing. a lot of questions about what went on inside a waldorf home before one person was killed and another injured this morning during a shooting. police say it started windows comment forced their way into a home on paris drive. jeanette reyes has the latest. jeanette: one man dead in another injured after an early morning shooting at this home. a lot of unanswered questions and mysterious characters making this incident a little bizarre. the charles county sheriff's office says they got a call around 4:20 this morning about "unknown trouble" along paris drive. when authorities arrived on scene they found the body of a man in his 30's. he was shot multiple times in the hallway of the home. the other injured man jumped out of a back window during the attack. he refused medical treatment. another woman in the home was uninjured and cooperative. a second woman escaped and her

whereabouts are unknown. >> everything took place inside the house. we believe that some but he may have knocked on the door. perhaps the door was open and the suspects forced their way inside. --it is kind of like especially three houses away. jeanette: not much is known about the suspects except they were masked men. they want to be clear that this home was targeted. the people inside were targeted. they are still investigating the shooting and trying to figure out what was going on inside of this home. reyes, abc 7 news. jummy: a trial for a worker at the miniland day care continues for the second day. sarah jordan was responsible for taking care of several toddlers. yesterday, one parent testified her daughter would wake up with nightmares after being in jordan's care. another parent claimed the child

exhibited signs of separation anxiety and was even afraid of water. the second woman accused in this case goes on trial in february. we are covering metro. today marking one year since this deadly smoke incident. .amotta now facing 80 lawsuits brianne carter is in northwest where victims and their lawyers spoke up. >> very nerve-racking. anxious and you see the smoke coming in getting worse and worse. brianne: jonathan rogers is one of the riders filing lawsuit against metro one year after he says he was stuck outside the l'enfant metro station started filling with smoke. one of the passengers who gave carol glover cpr before she was overcome by the smoke. lawyers representing the 87 say despite written requests they are still waiting for answers

about what was in the smoke. >> over the last year that has probably been the hardest part to deal with. the most frustrating. obviously i want to know how my health is impacted. brianne: lawyers representing the riders say in addition to getting answers they hope the lawsuits will ultimately make metro safer. >> it forces them to make metro safer. hopefully it forces them to take corrective action. brianne: a spokesperson says they cannot comment on pending litigation. metro's new general manager outlined steps that have been taken to improve safety in an open letter to riders. the ntsb is also still said to be investigating the incident and plans to have a report on the investigation later this year. lawyers representing the 87 riders say they did try to reach some agreement with metro prior to filing the suit's. we sit down with two of the

a live look at bethesda, the travel on wisconsin between chevy chase trying to get close to rockville, this is right near bradley boulevard. so far this afternoon we're clear. that is a look at traffic. jummy: we want to take a look at this incredible video. the driver of a pickup truck was rescued after a crash that sheared a hydrant and knocked over a power pole this morning in california. the crash sent water spewing several feet into the air. firefighters could not approach the vehicle because of concerns .bout live power lines eventually they were able to turn the water off and the area was deemed safe. the driver was pulled from the truck and taken to the hospital. in ohio, authorities are trying to figure out what caused a house explosion that killed water people. the parents and two daughters ages eight and 12 were inside that home when the blast left that home engulfed in flames. officials say it does not appear to because by a gas leak but

they are still investigating. a suicide bomber killed 10 people istanbul. both of them german tourists. officials say the bomber had likes to isis. isis. links to germany and other countries are warning their citizens to avoid public areas in turkey in the wake of these attacks. isis will comest up tonight during president obama's seventh and final state of the union. rather than the typical list of policy initiatives the white house says the president will outline the country's compliments over the past seven years. he is expected to outline the challenges facing the country and his successor. >> it does become more of a legacy speech in terms of defining what has been achieved. jummy: the president will address specific issues like gun violence kernel justice reform

.an important town if you're familiar with maryland if you go from cumberland to frostburg the weather changes dramatically in a short drive. this is a good bellwether. they had some snow showers briefly. this is just the beginning. heavier snow showers will come in later today. in advance of all of these changes, a wind advisory is in effect from this afternoon. it starts later this afternoon around 4:00 and lasts through 10:00 tonight toward midnight. when could gust 40 to 50 miles per hour especially in higher elevations. it will get windy around here and along this front will come rain showers and eventually snow showers. midday temperatures range in the 30's north and west of the metro area. it is 47 degrees in lexington park in st. mary's county. temperatures will climb a few more degrees before 3:00 or 4:00 . that is what we think the leading edge of precipitation will arrive.

the heaviest concentration of snow showers coming in through western virginia. the alleghanies will block this but there will be snow showers this afternoon. futurecast shows the timing at about 6:00 p.m. this evening. rain shower south and east of the metro area, snow showers to the north. much drier air moves in with a strong gusty wind and rapidly falling temperatures. here's the deal for areas north and west of the metro area. show so -- snow should start around 3:00. best chance will be in our western zones. western and northern suburbs, that will start around 5:00. wayne at first changing over to snow for areas just south and east of the district, closer to six. rain showers and the farther south you are i think it will be all rain. we do not expect any acute relation. a big change is coming. 45 for a high today.

only 32 at best tomorrow. it will not be as windy it will still be breezy enough to drive wind chill's lower. we turn around and quickly warm back up. 43 on friday. 49 -- 43 on thursday, 49 on friday. we will go into the holiday weekend and things will look pretty good with a warming trend. hagerstown, at of little snow on the side of the road. driving will be north and west of the metro area. temperatures are key. when it gets down to 20 degrees tonight, anything still on the road will freeze. jummy: you can see on the live camera, flurries. doug: there will be more. jummy: coming up, a health matters alert. the new recommendation on mammograms and what it could mean were insurance coverage.

jummy: a health matters alert now. a government task force stirring controversy after issuing its final set of recommendations about when women should get mammograms. the task force says women with an average risk of breast cancer should start screening at age 50 and then every other year until the age of 74. that is a shift from some groups which recommend mammograms every year starting at 40. it is unclear if the recommendations will change what insurance companies will cover. >> i think only time will tell how that will bear out. congress did pass a bill with a rider that extends coverage through the year 2017. what happens after that, we will have to see.
