>> you are watching stormwatch 7 coverage of blizzard 2016. abc 7 is your home for coverage. alison: there will be no plowing in frederick county tonight, the plows being taken off the roadways because the roads are too dangerous. intions of i to 70 and 70 maryland are closed. leon: we'll be checking in with butcrews in a few minutes, first a look at the forecast with steve rudin. are things winding down? steve: absolutely. from the belfort furniture weather center, the winter storm warning out west has canceled. we still have a blizzard warning for the d.c. metro, but that will likely cancel out also. this low pressure just off the coast is going to continue to move off to the north and east.

the line to the west of us slowly advances to the east, then conditions rapidly improve in terms of the snow ending and the skies clearing. heading in closer, the capital beltway the center of the screen, towards wheaton just a few snow flurries. also the same northeast d.c., college park. route 50 towards bowie, conditions gradually improve as we move through the next hour or two. to the west it looks even better in terms of the snowfall quickly coming to an end. aceenton and manassas, just view snow flurries. southern maryland also beginning to clear out with the snow quickly ending. greatturecast, gives a indication of what is going to be on the way as we move through the overnight. the skies begin to clear.

tomorrow morning, we can all look forward to a very nice sunrise across the washington metro area. the cleanup begins tomorrow. actually, for some right now. more on what to expect plus a look at some great pictures from the belfort furniture weather center in just a few minutes. leon: we saw quite a picture tonight. a fire broke out at a prince george's county stripmall. a carpeting store when up in flames on silver hill road ensued when. prince george's county fire officials say hi wind caused the flames to spread into other stores. there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. our crews have been bringing you the storm firsthand, all across the region with the latest. alison: in the district tonight, bureau chief sam ford is live in northwest ec once again. -- northwest d.c. once again. hi, sam. sam: our truck is here at 14th and u, and here in mount

pleasant, we saw how difficult it can be for first responders trying to get to the scene in this snow. we found two d.c. ambulances stopped at the intersection of mount pleasant and park road, both stuck in the snow en route to a home about two blocks away. numberst aimed at once, 31, was stuck, the number 24 was dispatched to replace that, and it became stuck on the opposite corner. they requested a plow to clear the snow or a humvee to deliver them to the patient's home. when we left moments ago, one of the paramedics was walking towards the patient's home with his medical bag. at this point, leon and alison, no word on the situation for the patient, but we saw how difficult it was come in either

ambulances could budge. we pulled up behind one in we had to back up for a block. a both had chains on, but that he made -- but that made no difference. alison: the hard work and dedication come getting out and going on foot. sam, thank you. leon: continuing coverage is ahead. we have the largest team of meteorologist in the region. they are working on the updated forecast.

looking down pennsylvania avenue. the skies are beginning to clear a little bit as the snow moves out. if you look at top the white house, you can see the flag. i'm going to jump in quickly and show you, right over there, the flag still blowing. the wind is brisk. it is 28 with the wind out of the north at 20. the wind chill factor is still in the teens. it will stay that way overnight. map, a lot going on. these are the snow totals, gives a good indication of where that bull's-eye was. we thought it was going to be the west of d.c., and this area over here, 33 inches winchester, 32 leesburg, bwi marshall 29.2, and reagan national quite a bit less at 17.8. let's talk about the top snowfall totals. bwi marshall in the record books wiest event on record. dulles looking at number two on

the list, 28.3. the old record, six years ago, the blizzard of 2010, 32.4. reagan national airport, right down here, tied for number four at 17.8. the record, we knew that was not going to happen, 28 inches. the airport1922, was not there. that is when they cap the records west end d.c., just off 24th street. the low pressure moves off to the north and east. moves closere line to was, shifting off to the east. will be to see the snow across the bay, the delmarva, towards philadelphia. now, scattered snow showers remain. not going to amount to a lot. not looking for any additional accumulation, and a lot of what you see right now is blowing snow. that will be the case overnight as we look for drifting to occur. driving right now, not the best

alison: high wind and heavy snow can lead to power outages.

in takoma park they are dealing with an outage right now. part of this takoma park neighborhood was without electricity nearly nine hours in the middle of the blizzard. it wasw was falling, freezing outside, and more than 1000 homes had no power. they don't have power at this takoma park home because -- but that is not stopping the neighborhood from gathering here for a potluck. >> we are eating, drinking, having a lot of snow. we having fun. ashley: they are making the most of a tough situation. a tree fell earlier in the day saturday, taking down power lines. about 1200 households lost power. by 7:00 p.m., they were still working to restore power. is reallyreet community driven and we get together whenever we can to celebrate events, and this is one of them. ashley: power has been restored

alison: some students from a florida high school saw something they had never experienced before during blizzard 2016. they saw snow for the first time. they were in town for the march

for life, the antiabortion rally. they say that braving the storm was worth the trip. >> it's awesome. it's beautiful. it's like a big cloud everywhere. make the decision if we wanted to come thursday with a snowstorm. alison: the students plan to go back to florida monday, but they may have to stick around because of the blizzard. leon: you can identify with that, florida girl. alison: yep, fun. sled on the national mall come something else you don't normally see. we don't know how far they made it. those dogs probably do not want to go very far. dogsledding might have been a cheaper alternative to uber tonight. times its usual rate this evening. the minimum fare for an suv tonight was $72.
