i'm reena ninan. >> i'm kendis gibson. we've made it to the weekend. but oh, man, there's no rest for the weary when it comes to the democrats. hillary clinton, bernie sanders facing off last night in durham, new hampshire in their first one-on-one really debate against each other. sparks flying between the two democratic candidates on everything from wall street to iran. abc's liz kreutz is covering the debate at the university of new hampshire. liz, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is the first time we've seen just hillary clinton and bernie sanders face off on a debate stage together. now just days away from that critical new hampshire primary. the two candidates didn't hold back. just hours ago, shots fired. enough is enough. if you've got something to say, say it directly. >> reporter: bernie sanders and hillary clinton facing off for the last time before the new hampshire prima clashing in one of their nastiest fights yet. >> i am very proud to be the only candidate up here who does not have a super pac, who's not

raising huge sums of money from wall street or special interests. >> senator sanders has said he wants to run a positive campaign. i think it's time to end the very artful smear that you and your campaign have ever been carrying out in recent weeks. >> reporter: the vermont senator doubling down on his attacks against his opponent's washington ways. >> she has the entire establishment or almost the entire establishment behind her. that's a fact. i don't deny it. >> reporter: clinton firing back. >> senator sanders is the only person who i think would characterize me a woman running to be the first woman president, as exemplifying the establishment. >> reporter: the two candidates sparring again over that iraq war vote. >> secretary clinton who was secretary of state for four years has more experience. that is not arguable. in foreign affairs. but experience is not the only point. >> a vote in 2002 is not a plan to defeat isis.

>> join our political team as saturday evening at 8:00 eastern 7:00 central. >> reporter: the zika virus rattling nerves as it spreads across the world. there are more than 50 confirmed cases nationwide. at least a dozen are in florida where the state of emergency has been expanded. abc's linzie janis is there with the latest. >> reporter: the state of florida ramping up its fight against the zika virus. >> while all the cases in florida are travel related, the moss quit tote that causes the zika virus is common in florida. >> reporter: the governor now declaring a state of emergency in five counties. so are they prepared? florida has 20 million residents and over 100 million tourists a year, and right now, they have less than a thousand kits to test for zika. the governor is requesting thousands more. >> only one in five individuals who have been bitten and infected by a mosquito actually show any signs or symptoms. >> reporter: the symptoms of zika? fever, rash, joint pain,

conjunctivitis, muscle pain, and headache. in dallas this week, news that the virus was transmitted sexually has many officials concerned. and another worry. the first case of zika infection from a blood transfusion reported in brazil. here at miami international airport, there are thousands of flights coming in every day from 30 high-risk countries flagged by the cdc. more than 100 flights from brazil alone. linzie janis, abc news, miami. we're learning of a new danger for airline passengers distracted air traffic controllers. an investigation by wabc finds some of the faa employees have been disciplined for texting, taking selfies or even watching sexually explicit videos on their phones. not one of these on duty controllers who were caught has been fired. >> there is no task that i can think of that requires more intense peepttive continuous concentration than being an air traffic controller. >> the faa says controller who's do not turn off their phones

while at work face disciplinary action. some experts say the controllers shouldn't have their phones with them at all. >> the government taking steps to stop food bourn illnesses. stemming from tainted poultry. the tougher rules will affect chicken sold in pieces as well as ground chicken and turkey. the new standards are targeting salmonella by lowering the level of contamination allowed in the processing facilities. the move is aimed at cutting the number of cases by 50,000. and there's a surprising discovery under the golden arches. some of mcdonald's new salads are packing more calories, fat, salt than even a big mac. among them, mickey d's premium southwest salad featuring healthy spinach and kale but it is topped with buttermilk, chicken, cheese, ranch dressing and much more, all totaling 710 calories and 43 grams of salt and more than 1300 grandpas of
