>> nick who has lived here since 1971 says the initial intention was a two-lane parkway, not a beltway like thoroughfare. >> arlington is not something you can just pave over. that is where this is going. >> the agreement reached by the governor and the lawmakers call for widening the eastbound portion of 66 between the dulles connector road in boston, four-mile section through arlington county. arlington leaders, expressing disappointment from the deal and pleased by the promise of the governor. >> widening of 66 will be done on the existing footprint. and the existing right-of-way. no homes or businesses will be taken with these improvements. >> as part of the agreement, lawmakers fighting proposed tolls inside the beltway are dropping their opposition. this plan allows for solo drivers on 66 to be told in rush hour. >> i don't want to see all the roads turn in toll roads. that mig

students on school grounds. we are waiting for a news conference by kevin maxwell as well as the county leaders. this will be the first time school leaders have spoken about the case. this afternoon, abc7 was the first to report the first alleged victim to come forward is suing the school system for negligence. that lawsuit claims teachers voiced concerns about deonte carraway for months and the concerns were ignored. carraway was charged after the uncle of a 9-year-old found illicit images and messages on the child's cell phone. prosecutors are promising justice. >> we are not going to leave any stone unturned to build the strongest case possible so that we can hold accountable the person or the persons who fail to protect the children in the cases. alison: principal of the sylvania woods elementary school is onopoly leave.

supposed to start at 6:30. our sister station newschannel8 will carry the news conference live. leon: update on the breaking news from hartford county, last hour. in the last hour we learned two deputies shot in the line of duty died. maryland governor hogan ordered all state flags to be flown at half staff. this incident happened at a shoot-out in panera bread restaurant. the deputies were called callede to report of suspicious person. that man opened fire as soon as he saw the deputies. sheriff broke the difficult news after leaving the hospital. >> i have met with the both families. i don't think i can tell anybody. there is no word to describe what they are going through. i know both of them well. in my prior law enforcement days in a different

substance that leaked in the potomac near roaches run is petroleum but where it came from is a mystery. it may take a couple of days to determine the source after collecting samples and sending them to a lab. they also say they see a decrease in the number of animals affected by the spill. leon: it is one of the many lasting images from the 2016 blizzard. piles of fluffy white snow dumped in parking lot at r.f.k. stadium by the truckload. a different scene today. look at this. this fillny, sooty, nasty, dirty, salty mess is what remains of the ton of snow dumped there to melt. d.c. water is worried about this. spokesperson tells us that the snow was filled up with street waste to make it to the anacostia river. d.c. department of energy and environment say the filters are in place. they hope it would catch the runoff for the coming weeks and the months to take for all
