up first, terrifying moments, a dog electrocuted by a live wire outside of a d.c. apartment. her owners and neighbors try to frantically save her now they are demanding answers. alison: they called 7 on your side, and tom roussey has what we found out. tom? nessthe 3003 vanm apartments are a large apartment complex. this happened just on the other side of the main entrance. a family who lives here is devastated. >> it's pretty hard. tom: skyler kelly says they have missed a third family member, their border collie mix died. >> i don't want her to die in vain. i don't want this to happen to a human being. tom: while walking the dog, the dog seized up. >>

her collar off and felt the shock. tom: somebody ran to the apartment to get skyler. >> i started to give her cpr. mouth-to-mouth. she was already gone. an association's member said several neighbors complained in the past their pets were receiving shocks in this area. was told in july and supposedly no problem was found. >> why people were not notified of this is what is so appalling to me. tom: video shows pepco on scene. pepco says it is the apartment's wires, not theirs. said an unusual electrical issue was caused by a wire inside the concrete. say they are skeptical, and they are upset that flyers warning people about the death have been torn down. >> you are keeping the truth from them. that is horrifying. horrifying. tom:

>> everyone came together. people that we don't know. they welcomed us with open arms. richard: dozens of people, friends and family, filled this auditorium to remember christina , killed in a car crash on valentine's day. >> every time she walked into a room, she was always a positive spirit. the 18-year-old freshman at the university of maryland was spending the day with her boyfriend, 21-year-old brandon. at 3 p.m., he lost control of his dodge viper sports car and crashed into a concrete wall in potomac. did not believe it at first. i thought it was a mistake, maybe somebody else. the man survived with a non-life-threatening injuries. the police believe that speed may have been a factor. 's was a lovely person. she met a lot of friends.

apple has asked for help to hack into a cell phone. a u.s. magistrate is ordering apple to give the fbi special programs to unlock the phones of the terrorists from san bernardino. they say they cannot unlock his phone because they do not know his passcode. they killed 14 people in december. alison: a decorated arena tact. d.c. police are taking a close look at surveillance video from the mcdonald's where this marine was attacked. marquez last chris night. we followed up with him today. he says that he was attacked by a group of teenagers, andy he believes it was a hate crime. we are staying on this and will bring you new information as soon as we get it. developing now, a longtime college swimming coach

age of 79. alison: 7 on your side with a health alert and what could be an alarming effect of some really popular drugs. drugs taken to reduce indigestion may increase your risk of dementia. german researchers studied the drugs and found that people 75 and older who take these regularly saw their risk of dementia increase by more than 40%. scientists a more research is necessary and the cause and effect has not been proven. what may be a huge breakthrough in the fight against cancer. seattle researchers announced a potential treatment that helps a person's immune system fight off cancer cells way they would fight off a virus. it involves genetically modifying a cell. in one case, the therapy eliminated all symptoms in 94% of the people with
