several of them appear to have fled this way. we see the escalators in the distance. two person of interest was captured. these men have not been found. two other suspects are in custody. metro is asking for help. this is video we took when the train was still at the station. this is the first shooting to happen on a metro train in more than a decade. we are told that the victim was shot and conscious handwriting when he was taken away -- conscious and breathing when he was taken away. even though there wasn't too many passengers in metro it caused a panic as you can imagine. we talk to folks on the trains that arrived shortly after the shooting happened. they were scared by this. they say there needs to be more security. >> there is always coming

the train. they have them but they should have them at the hot spots like anacostia. >> we need more police around. especially on the train. this shouldn't be happening. sigh tom: this is not far from the anacostia metro station. that is where a 15 and a 19-year-old were taken into custody. we are told by metro they believe it was the 15-year-old who was the shooter. those two in custody. two other person of interest are out there. we come back here live you can see things have for the most part returned to normal. we have extra security but mostly back to normal here at the anacostia metro station. the rush hour trains are moving at the normal. you can see the station is back open. i was closed for a time after the shooting happened around 12:45 this

tom roussey abc7 news. alison: thank you. last month's crime report saw a drop in robberies in metro from january of last year and increase in assaults. this is only the third time that metro dealt with a shooting on board a train. brianne carter picks up a team coverage with a check on metro crime. brianne: metro transit police chief calling this a very rare occurrence. what happened here today on board of a train. now we also understand there was a metro transit police officer by the buses when all of this happened. the police in place and the technology that tonight police are touting in quickly being able to track down those they believe to be responsible. >> we always want to reassure riders we have a safe system. this is an anomaly event. i can't recall one that where a shooting occurred on a train. >> they call the

one today on board the green line train rare. but reportedly it has happened in the past. according to the "washington post" in 2003 a woman was shot and wounded on a green line train in what may have been an accident. in 1993, a man was shot in the shoulder on an orange line train. today's shooting, however, part of a growing number of crimes involving the teens on the system. just in the past month a group of teens was arrested after assaulting a man at gallery place. on monday, three teens were arrested in connection with the lobry on the sidewalk outside the station. while it didn't happen on the metro system the teen just got off a metro bus. metro transit police chief says they have a number of cools in place to keep people safe, including a security operations system with the eyes on camera at all 91 rail stations. >> we share a video realtime, the snapshot of the suspects. helpful today. >> the city leaders say the
