domestic violence. two women were murdered while a child watched. maureen: brad bell has who the women were and what we learned about the suspect. brad? brad: breaking news is that the police announced that the suspect in this case has been found dead of what they believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound. he was found in virginia. he was up here on the third floor. he murdered his girlfriend. her sister and that all of that happened in front of his girlfriend's small children. tarekka jones smiles her facebook picture but her friends knew the 27-year-old mother of three had been in an abuseive relationship. they knew what court documents alleged that weeks ago, boyfriend kevin beat her and pointed a gun at her. made threats. >> if she knew, she woul

left. >> after reynolds was arrested, sources say she attended the bond review and telling the court she didn't want to pursue the charges anymore. he was released from jail six days ago. >> she bailed him out and she felt bad about it. i guess this is what happened next. >> the police believe at 10:30 last night reynolds was again at jones' cheverly's apartment. neighbors heard arguing and then three gunshot. >> by the time i put my pants on i heard three more bangs. brad: the neighbor doesn't want to be identified and he ran upstairs after hearing the gunshot and found tarekka jones and her sister jalisa walls-harris. this is her facebook page. both women dead. the crime witnessed by jones' young child. >> she wants people to know

>> the children, they are so young. how do they live without having a mother? she wanted to make something out of her herself. >> e is my best friend in school. she was nice and outgoing. she ain't deserve it. she didn't deserve it at all. brad: despite history of violence tarekka jones never sought protective order against reynolds. in cheverly, brad bell, abc7 news. leon: thank you. heartbreaking. there were growing calls in maryland now for tougher laws against domestic violence. today the state attorney for prince george's county testified on a senate hearing on the issue. angela alsobrooks told the lawmakers of the 189 murders in the county this year, seven of them were connected to domestic violence.

>> he was one of the two officers hurt in the deadly shooting that killed fellow officer ashley guindon. northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg just sat down with the police chief to find out what is next for the injured officers and how the department is moving forward after the tragedy. jeff? jeff:

people to talk to family and friend and work through the grieving process. look at the police cruiser outside the headquarters covered with flowers and notes in honor of officer ginned -- officer guindon, the community is offering all the support. >> we are doing okay. this is a day-by-day kind of thing. jeff: nothing could have prepared the police for the sudden and the tragic loss of ashley guindon. the chief hudson says they have thrown tremendous resiliency. >> we'll be grieving over ashley and for a long time. jeff: officer ginned gipped -- officer guindon was shouted and killed on the first day of the street on a you inly sworn officer. she was 28 years old. two other officers were shot and injured. one officer was released last week and the other is receiving care with surgery to come.

really strong guy. >> 32-year-old ronald hamilton is accused of shooting the officers and shooting and killing his wife 29-year-old crystal hamilton. according to chief hudson all three officers were wearing bullet resistant vests. >> the bulk of the rounds did not strike the vests at all. >> officers never know what is around each corner or behind each door. but he says they have stayed strong and vigilant. that will not change. >> one of the things that any such tragedy says is cause us all to be even more introspective than normal to find out what we can do to make ourselves better moving forward. that will be part of ashley's legacy. >> chief hudson says a rifle and handgun were found at the scene at the shooting. the officials are not ready to say which firearm was used in the separate shootings. just one of the many details of the case still under review as this investigation
