across the nation. richard reeve has what's happening at this hour. richard: thousands of protesters remain on the streets of chicago. it appears the situation has calmed down, but earlier friday evening things got ugly. supporters and protesters clashed inside of the university a campaignnts before spokesperson announced the rally would be canceled because of security concerns. in the hours before the rally, protesters lined the streets anti-trump slogans. people were cheering and yelling. fights.re several one protester even got on a podium. even though freedom of speech was violated totally, we made a decision not to go forward. i don't want to see anybody get hurt. rich

after being assaulted by an acquaintance, and when she went to drive home, her attacker was hiding in the backseat. tom roussey explains the chain of events that followed and how the suspect was caught. tom: fairfax county police say this all began very early thursday morning. attacksold mark breaks a 28-year-old woman in what the police say was an active domestic assault. she was taken to the hospital. ricks fleas in her car. the police and security received a report that ricks has come looking for her. they don't find him, but they find the car, eventually returned to the woman. she is released from the hospital, she is driving a short distance away with her child inside, when all of a sudden she notices something in the car behind her. the police say it was ricks. he had been hiding in the back.

is driving, causing an accident. then he takes off running. a short time later, the police find ricks. he is facing five charges, and more may be on the way. this is only about .2 miles from the original attack where the 28-year-old woman happened which started all of this. in the alexandria section of fairfax county, tom roussey, abc 7 news. leon: the victim in her child will be ok. the police do not believe that ricks was in her car when they gave it back to her. they believed that he went into hide sometime after that. the police are investigating what chevy chase residents call a very scary incident with a man approaching young children. , including a seven year old, were outside of a house when a man came up and asked if he could give them a ride to school.
