it's been dubbed in the studio. >> super hump day because of the big results last night. >> the big super tuesday which is kind of bleeding into this morning. it's still a long morning and long night for many folks because the results are still coming in right now. but yeah, what a night it was for hillary clinton. huge night. donald trump very big and john kasich got in on the act. clinton regaining momentum after last week's surprise loss in michigan. >> trump gaining in delegates but stopped from a full sweep by kasich in ohio. clinton winning a close contest in illinois, plus ohio, florida and north carolina. >> kasich with that hugely important victory in his home state of ohio. trump and cruz were locked in a nail biter overnight in missouri. and taking a closer look at that big win there, in ohio, the voters there giving a ten-point victory to their governor and likely insuring another fight in the buckeye state at the

abc's marci gonzalez live in miami. thank you so much. well, as the dust settles from yet another big series of primaries among the key questions that remain is, what's next? >> and we ask abc news political director rick klein for his take. good morning, rick. >> reena and kendis, ohio stirred something up that only they may be able to settle, that meaning the republican convention over the summer. donald trump winning a couple of states but losing critical battleground of ohio to john kasich. marco rubio leaving the race but kasich likely to emerge as the alternative. when you combine that with the fact that ted cruz continues to accrue delegates, have you three candidates moving forward and donald trump is likely to be the person that ends this process with more delegates than anyone else. he is unlikely though to necessarily have a majority. that means you might have that contested convention. it would be all about ohio. some big tests ahead and big vushls that reveal themselves around the republican front runner. >> thanks to rick klein there. an

at the all-important delegate count. trump won the largest share of the delegates last night but cruz continues to accrue delegates, as well. meaning trump will have to fight for every delegate through the spring as rick mention inned. on the democratic side, clinton won about 300 delegates last night, making it all but impossible for sanders to make up the difference before july. our election coverage does not end here. we're going to look at the mood of the voters before last night's primaries and the issues that mattered most. that's later in this half hour. another major headlines this morning. there's been another police shooting this time in fort worth, texas. police had tried to stop an suv to serve outstanding warrants. that led to a high speed chase. a chase on foot and a shoot-out. the police officer is in critical condition. one of the suspects is dead and the other, his son, is in custody. the city of ferguson, missouri is accepting a justice department plan to overhaul its police department and courts. there were cheers when the council so theed in

of tuesday's voters give clinton a better chance of defeating trump in november. only 30% are feeling the bern in that way when asked about bernie sanders. but more democratic votes are find sanders honest and trustworthy. 0% versus 60% for clinton. and different from the gop race, reena and kendis, the majority of democrats in tuesday's primaries would be satisfied if clinton or sanders was the eventual nominee. >> so many findings we're learning from yesterday's result. trump at this point has won more than 20 states. what accounts for his support right now? >> so according to the exit polls it, really showed the continued appeal with discontended republicans. among the more than half who want an outsider candidate, 6% of those voters favor trump. then he won the majority of the support of those angry at the government, want to deport immigrants, want to ban muslims from the country. and feel that they're falling
