the mayor happened to walk outside the chambers defending the plan. >> it is expensive to house 250 families. sam: the mayor has many supporters. >> it's a good plan and it needs to move forward. sam: some are flatly opposed. in all 90 people signed up to testify on the issue. >> they are half more, more than halfway through the 90 people. the contentious issue is ward five where they put people in isolated area between a bus lot and school bus lot. a lot of folks are saying this would cause the fumes and

stuff. the person who owns the lot is a developer but the mayor denies that and says if mcduffy wants another site he should suggest another site in the ward. so far that has not happened. leon: thank you, sam. new developments in the shooting death of prince george's county police officer jacai colson. today the man accused of starting the shoot out was ordered held without bond. michael ford was released from the hospital. police say he opened fire using a gun stolen twice. ford is facing two dozen criminal charges including second degree murder. within the the hour we learned a viewing for officer colson will be held thursday the beltsville. the funeral is set for the next day and he will be bury

in pennsylvania. d.c. police identified a man shot to death inside his car last night. 29-year-old darnell richardson from cheverly. police say he was shot on benning road northeast and tried to escape from that scene and he made it to 275 and the benning road exit where he died. so far no word on a suspect or motive in the killing. maureen: story of fighting back against crime. d.c. police are crediting good samaritans for stopping an assault. this happened yesterday morning near 8th and second street northwest. police say the group of people came upon on a man trying to sex watchly assault a woman. they scared him off and called police. police say they capture the suspect a short time later. leon: paul wiedefeld talked with brianne carter about the

system around. brianne carter has the latest on the conversation. brianne: paul wiedefeld said getting to the root of what is causing the issues on the track is the next step after they shut down the system. the inspections that call it would show stoppers, defects so bad the trains shouldn't run on the track. wiedefeld told me today he is bringing in additional resources to help him look at the past practices and what was discovered in the past 24 hours. what now needs to be done moving forward so a track issue can be discovered before there is a threat to public safety. wiedefeld says he plan to put new practices forward when it comes to the track inspections and maintenance. wiedefeld was down on the track during the more than 24 hour closure. one thing he has seen in the agency is the thing he has seene agency is the change in the comm
