european countries are stepping up security as well. we have team coverage covering every angle for you. we want to get started with a live report in london. brussels.attacks in three powerful explosions during morning rush-hour. at least 34 people are dead and three american missionaries from utah have been seriously injured. the first set of explosions rocked brussels just after 8:00 a.m. at the height of rush hour. witnesses described the terrorizing -- terrifying moments. calling it a terrorist attack, the belgian prosecutor saying at least one of those explosions was carried out by a suicide bomber. almost an hour later, another powerful blast

also learning more about the types of injuries people have suffered in the attacks. at least one of the bombs detonated at the airport contained nails. they are dealing with fractures and deep cuts caused by flying glass and nails. autria: this comes days after belgian officials arrested the lone surviving suspect of the paris terror attacks. scott thuman has spent time in belgium and paris and joins us from the newsroom with the latest. these attacks seem to be in retaliation. many people thought that after the arrest of salah abdeslam that there would be some sort of retaliatory act. there are multiple cells in the region.

perhaps because they felt pressured that they were going to be rounded up. we heard from president hollande that he said we believe there are more people involved in the paris attacks. so there are going to be more arrests. what we saw back in december, they thought an attack was imminent and nothing took place. interesting to see how quickly they shut down the entire city. the big take away here is that you are going to have more debate over was called the shenzhen agreement -- schengen agreement. it allows people to cross back and forth across borders.

having repercussions at home as well. john gonzalez is live at dulles airport. john: there was a brussels bound flight that left dulles overnight. it arrived in belgium just about an hour before the attacks this morning. this afternoon you can see the brussels airlines counter here is closed, which is normal. during weekdays, flights to and from brussels are operated out of united airlines. here at the airport, not necessarily increased police, but more vigilant. we have seen uniformed officers all day long with high-powered rifles and k-9 units walking the concourse. tsa agents also closely inspecting the departure lounge areas and baggage claims an

passengers, many of them on its today. we spoke to one woman who lived in dubai. she was in the sky when the attack occurred. she had tears running down her face when she landed. >>e live in the middle east and i came here to pick up my nephew to take him home for spring break which is a huge deal for my family to trust -- every year i have asked and every year i have gotten, you live in dubai. we live around some of the most wonderful muslim people in the world who embrace peace and love. it is so heartbreaking because i know this is just another stumbling block for the muslim community. john: a regular tuesday flight for brussels has been suspended.
