new information about dawson's past. inlives in this home antioch, tennessee, just south of nashville. he has a record there. he lost his license to be a funeral home director in 2004 and the board denied him because of his moral character. he was also a school bus driver for a time, but was fired in 2001 when he allegedly wrote inappropriate letters to a student. the investigation is just ahead, but first -- leon: tom roussey is live at the u.s. capitol and has the investigation happening now. tom: leon, tonight sources are telling abc 7 that dawson had a bb gun that look like a real gun when this happened. the police believe he parked in this parking spot and at some point made his way to the other side of the capital, the east

center entrance is, and that is when all heck broke loose. after dark, the police investigated the truck they believe belongs to larry dawson of tennessee. they then towed it away. >> the police were running up the stairs saying go, go, go. tom: dawson allegedly pointed what appeared to be a gun at the police at a capitol visitor center security checkpoint. >> an officer fired and struck the suspect, who was treated by medical personnel. dawson was taken to the hospital. a nearby adult female had minor injuries. >> in 30 seconds, we would have been in their. happened on easter monday, one of the busiest days of the year. the visitor center was jammed packed. about 20 capitol police running past us to pursue the shooter. they told us to get out of there. tom: se

is larry dawson of tennessee. he was taken to washington hospital center under police escort and is being reported as a man familiar to capitol police. some digging and we found this video last october wistar's withwson unlawful contact and assault on a police officer after an outburst in the u.s. house chambers. in the video of the session, the man brought the session to a stop as he yelled. the person leading the session had him removed. at that point, it's likely dawson had a violent incident with a police officer, bus one of those charges. that day, dawson was arraigned in court. a judge issued a "stay away" order, barring him from the u.s. capitol and all other congressional buildings. a few weeks later, a bench warrant was issued when he did not show up for court. for

charges, dawson was represented by d.c.-based attorney. we reached out to that attorney, but we have not heard back. chris papst, abc 7 news. firedthose shots were when the u.s. capitol grounds were crawling with workers and visitors. one of those people shot this frantic video. jay korff spoke with him tonight. did they recover? yeah, some folks were literally paralyzed with fear, others were feeling like they were terrorized. i spoke with a father and son and they witnessed the chaos firsthand. >> people were yelling and screaming. jay: you can see the concern on dennis sanchez's face while his 14-year-old son video tapes him and others running for cover. >> the secret service or somebody was running ahead with machine guns drawn, saying get down, get down. jay: the father

ta on thousands of patients. log on tors try to e-mail, they got a message saying they would have to pay to get access. --a statement, medstar said "the i.t. system was affected by a virus that prevents certain users from logging into our system." medstar moved quickly to shut down the computer network. the facilities in d.c. and baltimore remained open, but sources say the outage slowed things down, forcing doctors and nurses to write everything by hand. the fbi is leading the investigation and says it has no evidence information has been compromised. this istell abc 7 believed to be a ransom-ware attack, in which hackers install a virus before restoring it to normal after demanding a ransom.
