early morning hours. well, good tuesday morning. we begin with the showdown in wisconsin, voters heading to the polls today in a critical contest that could reset the race for the white house. >> it's an uphill battle for the front-runners on both sides with a helping hand from his wife, melania, donald trump is hoping to mend fences with women. 42 delegates are up for grabs for the republicans and 96 for democrats. >> a big loss today would greatly reduce trump's chances of clinching the nomination before the gop convention. abc's ray raimundi has the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the stakes couldn't be higher on this primary day. the candidates making their pleas into the night vying for those coveted delegates. today's outcome will be a momentum changer and could panel make a clear path to a contested republican convention. another tuesday and another

game-changing primary potentially. >> your vote will be important because the world is watching wisconsin. the world is watching. >> reporter: republican front-runner donald trump subdued and with his wife in the badger state admitting regrets for retweets and statements he made last week. >> i could have done without it and it's true and i wish i didn't send it out. if i had to do it again i would not have done it. >> reporter: trump and senator ted cruz participating in a town hall forum last night on fox. cruz giving trump a tongue lashing and denying rumors about infidelities. >> have you committed adultery? >> i have not. that attack was complete and utter garbage. i have always been faithful to my wife. >> reporter: a ted cruz win in wisconsin will make a contested gop convention a lot more likely. the democrats meanwhile, campaigning late into the evening hours. bernie sanders in milwaukee acting more confident than ever. >> we have won six out of the last seven caucuses and primaries.

windchill making it feel colder, single digits in upstate new york and vermont. below freezing as far south as roanoke, virginia. well, this weekend's record snowfall in central new york may have been a factor in this deadly head-on crash. in michigan, the snow is being blamed for more than 100 crashes and the postponement of little league. meteorologists say the cold weather in the north is going to stick around another week or so. this morning, federal investigators will start looking for clues after the deadly crash of a sightseeing helicopter. the crash was captured by time lapse video take a look here. the black smoke rising above the trees near the great smoky mountains national park in tennessee. all five on board were killed. abc's aviation consultant steve ganyard says there have been some safety issues with these type of tour helicopters. >> what people need to understand when they sign up to go fly in these helicopters, these -- it's not the same thing as getting on an airliner to fly

we're getting our first look at a killer tornado that ripped through northern illinois a year ago. forecasters had said any tornadoes would miss this house. the homeowner wasn't that confident but the house didn't have much of a base many. nowhere to hide. the man taking the video survived. his wife did not. repercussions are starting in a worldwide scandal involving the panama papers leak. those are the leaked documents from a law firm in which in panama which detayed the secret

world's most powerful people. and thousands gathered in iceland demanding the prime minister step down. his financial affairs are part of the leak and refusing to resign. he walked out of an interview when asked about his offshore holdings. a major milestone for workers in two states. the minimum wage in california and new york will eventually rise to $15 an hour. the governors of both states signing the bill into law yesterday. hillary clinton joining new york's governor andro cuomo after the signing. it will rise grad wally over a period of yeerds. it's 7.$7.25 an hour. a judge granted approval for a $20 billion settlement six years after the bp oil spill. it will be paid to the u.s., five states and local governments but environmental groups are angry that much of it will be tax deductible for bp. the company had reached a similar settlement with businesses and residents. the offshore explosion killed 11 workers and caused

slid down it. >> not known why. although in the video provided by station kprc she appears quite calm as she collects her bag and walks away. united says the flight attendant has been, quote, removed from her flying duties. well, some new details from the investigation into sunday's deadly train accident near philadelphia. officials say the train was going 106 miles an hour when it struck a backhoe that was on the same track. the speed limit in that area is 110 miles an hour. the train's engineer applied the emergency brake five seconds before the backhoe was struck. killing two workers. investigators will be interviews work crew members who witnessed the accident today. a manhunt is underway for two escaped prisoners. they were in a van traveling along interstate 10 when they disappeared in a rural area. one of the escapees is wanted for violation of probation for robbery and escape. the other has warrants for larceny charges. a

oregon with a teenager behind the wheel of that truck. it ended with the chase with the capture -- captured on video as the stolen ford pickup truck goes across the interstate before heading in the opposite direction. the 15-year-old was finally arrested when he put his hand in the air and got out of the truck. the disguise wasn't convincing but the gun was. police in suburb been detroit say this is a man robbing a bank. he allegedly came in and announced the robbery and showed what appeared to be a handgun and a bomb. police say after he got the money he drove away in a blue ford mustang. police are still on the lookout for him. well, strides for a teenager who survived in kalamazoo, michigan. abigail kopf is walking again strolling through the halls of a rehab hospital and it's amazing to see

forcing an evacation. no word on the extent of the damage. the i-r-s says employees who can telework-- should plan to work remotely. it will be business as usual at other i-r-s offices in our area. when d-c voters head to the polls this november-- they will decide the fate of a controversial piece of legislation. a judge has signed off on the measure to raise the district's minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour. if voters approve it... minimum wages incrementally rise from 10-50... to 15 dollars over the next four years. and as the district considers that legislation. two states are already putting it into motion. laws raising minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour have been signed this week in california and new york. in california... workers will reach the 15 dollar mark by the year 20-22. in new york city - it'll be by the end of 20-18, with a slower roll out in other parts of the state. the change follows years of protests by workers across the country. critics argue the hike will force small business owners to lay off
