centering on the abuse of a 12-year-old girl. the authorities believe she may have been sexually assaulted in d.c., maryland, and virginia. tom roussey has the story. the arrests were made yesterday, but the police believe it happen nearly two weeks ago, near central wheaton. they believe they took the 12-year-old girl into the apartment building, down the steps to their apartment, and raped her. they believe that maryland is not the only place where this poor girl was allegedly violated. >> it's very scary. tom: montgomery county say that 24-year-old henrique carbajal up with a tome met 12-year-old girl in northeast d.c. without her parents up permission. carbajal is charged with child sexual abuse in d.c. from

the girl to this apartment in wheaton, where they are both accused of raping her. then they took her to virginia, where the authorities are investigating if they committed another alleged sexual assault. a roommate pulled me off camera was shocked, saying both men seem to be hard-working, respectable men. carbajal even sometimes went to a church youth group. came in with guns drawn. the police say the allegations are a reminder for parents. >> know who their friends are and where they are hanging out and where they are. tom: besides the charge against c., both men are facing five charges in montgomery county, where they are in jail tonight. they could also be looking at charges from alexandria, virginia. live in wheaton, tom roussey, abc 7 news. alison:

prince george's county. roz plater has more on what has become more than just a tradition. roz: indeed, it is an urgent call because the number of victims in this county is astounding and apparently on the rise. ♪ activists and survivors of sexual violence marked this annual "take back the night" by shining the light on the pervasive problem of sexual assault and sex trafficking and how to curb it. abusehorrible as sexual at assault is, and it is horrible, there is hope. roz: they say that many victims represented by these t-shirts our children and teenagers. the county has the second-highest number of both child sex abuse cases and reported rapes in the state of maryland. experts are seeing a spike in sex trafficking, much of it in hotels along the i-95 corridor. this human trafficking

tina, says you may be surprised to learn the victims are often teenagers with good homes. talking about people manipulating them outside of their homes, recruited online. of the survivors, including myself, were sexually assaulted before the trafficking situation. on the victims having the courage to break their silence. a survivor says the first person that a victim comes to has a crucial responsibility. >> recognize and validate them, even if you're not sure. roz: survivor tina, who you heard from, has been part of president obama's task force to end human trafficking. roz plater, abc 7 news. alison: developing now, the search for whoever shot a six boy during a home invasion last night and a home on foot street in northeast. two people forced open the door and opened fire.

details of the suspects, but they believe the home was targeted because of a dispute. springfield, investigators are trying to figure out what caused a crash involving a police cruiser in school bus. officer,nts, a police and one other adult were injured, but no life-threatening injuries. this happened near backlick road. they believe the bus was transporting a class on a field trip. stay with us for updates. in light of several school bus crashes in the area this week, nhtsa is pushing for seatbelts on school buses. they plan to launch an effort to have them installed nationwide. alison: police have concluded their search for a missing child militia road -- relisha rudd. in onday the police honed the national arboretum, including divers in two different ponds.

have not recovered anything. the: tragic new details of death of montgomery county police officer noah leotta. a report says the driver who hit and killed officer leotta had no business being behind the wheel. he had at least six beers and four shots and had smoked weed and taken xanax before he struck the officer. time is ticking away for noah's law, which would require ignition interlock's for all convicted drunk drivers. lawmakers are trying to iron out differences with two versions of the bill. the driver remains behind bars with a court date scheduled for next week. alison: it was not a picture-perfect day for baseball -- rain forcing fans to run for cover at nats part, but the game eventually went on. even though the home team did not walk away with a win,

alison: two suspects are in custody following a bizarre chase through the los angeles area. the suspects did not seem interested in getting away. in fact, the driver was throwing donuts during the chase, this while in a convertible with the top down in the rain. later, the driver pulled up in a neighborhood where several bystanders started shaking his hand. that is when the police arrested both suspects without incident. leon: maybe the rain set them all. them off.he rain set uber will pay at least $10 million to settle a california lawsuit over background checks. the lawsuit says that uber falsely claimed
