this is what it looked like on april 9 last year as the cherry blossoms were about to peak. i think they are gone by now. let's check with chief meteorologist doug hill. first an early bloom and now a late snow. what's next? doug: it looks like the possibility of the rain showers and the snowshowers at times tomorrow. but before we start the day, many areas west of metro washington shaded in purple are under a freeze warning tonight. they may have a hard freeze in some spots by morning. the forecast will be for the cold weather overnight. 32 to 38 by morning. clouds will be increasing. you could see first batch of mix rain and snowshowers in the morning. the future cast has it moving out at 7:30. then a break for an hour or two. later in the afternoon the gusty winds, temperatures in the 40's. more patches of the rain or snowshowers until 6:00. through tomorrow night, late tomorrow night will clear out. sunday will start with sunshine. clouds increase through the day. the cold

week-long and emotional trial. i can tell you a very tight knit group of people knew about the plea deal. no reporters were present when ellis pled to two counts of vehicular manslaughter. most will remember the terrible crash from last june along a windy two-lane road in north pa toe mack. 18-year-old merck and calvin lee died in wreckage. today police revealed ellis' car dipped in a culvert and went airborne traveling 110 feet. the vehicle frame ripped apart by two trees and flew through the air. i landed on its hood and slid to a stop in a rational driveway. prosecutors went on to state and i quote -- "mr. ellis was driving the vehicle at a bare bones minimum of 65 miles per hour." this on a road with a posted speed limit of 35. >> this is a tro

difficult case. is a tragedy. we will ask for jail time. we believe he should be held accountable. kevin: to that point a judge could sentence samuel ellis to up to 20 years in prison. both sides the defense and prosecution say that will most likely be in the range of three months to eight years in prison. live in rockville, i'm kevin lewis. maureen: thank you. the man who admitted carjacking an ambulance and causing a deadly crash will spend 16 years in prison. a judge sentenced isaacson today. he pleaded guilty to d.u.i., motor vehicle manslaughter and carjacking. police say he was drunk when he crashed his car in december of 2014. when an ambulance arrived to hem him, isaacson punched a paramedic, stole an ambulance and caused another crash in greenbelt that killed 77-year-old alvin hargrave. a woman was also

prosecutors sought 25-year sentence for isaacson. leon: maryland lawmakers have until monday to pass noah's law. while it passed passed in both chambers, differences in language in both houses requires reconciliation and another vote. it would require anyone convicted of drunk driving to have an ignition interlock device placed inside the vehicle. the legislation is named after the montgomery county police officer noah leotta who was killed by a suspected drunk driver. maureen? maureen: noah's law isn't the only big piece of legislation left for the final hours of the maryland general assembly. as we report, the remaining bill face uncertain futures. >> as they arrive at the statehouse, maryland lawmakers are greeted by folks wearing surgical masks. all to promote a bill requiring most employers to give their workers up to seven days of paid sick leave a year. >> you know, this is a bill about the family values. a big that says that we want peep to be able to stay home when they are sick. reporter: the house alre

called 911 from her home december 2 and saying the baby was unresponsive. two days later the child died at the children's national medical center from blunt force trauma. manning is now free on bail. a 13-year-old boy is in the hospital tonight after a stabbing near the rhode island avenue petro station. it happened happened in a fightd 1:00 this afternoon. police are investigating but they have not yet made any arrests. injuries are not life threatening. maureen: still ahead at 6:00 -- dangerous problems discovered on the d.c. circulator buses. what is being done to fix them. leon: you want to see this. the surfer knocked off the board. the month you are most likely to see things happen. encounters with shark on florida vacation. if you have a florida vacation. that is coming up here next at 6:00.

temperatures will drop. upper 40's west. lower 50's for most of the metro area. we see some increasing cloudiness later in the evening. temperatures farther west are colder. this is the air mass brought down by increasingly northwesterly winds. most of the day are in the 40's. the winds increase through the day, it will feel like wind chill in the 30's. on top of that we have the rain shower and snowshowers. not rain now iser or snowshowers all -- rain or snowshowers all day. there are breaks. the center of the circulation southeast of chicago with a cold front moving through that. the whole mass is moving through here. but there are segment and the areas of the rain showers. closeup of chicago. they have gone to snow in chicagoland as the temperatures in the upper 30's. for us, increasing cloudiness tonight. overnight we look for the temperatures between 32 and 38 by the morning with a freeze warning in effect. this is the warning that stretches to maryland, pennsylvania, border. south and

a freeze warning tonight. we could be under tonight. we are under a freeze watch ahead of time for tomorrow night. see what the weather service does with that. they could upgrade it to a warning. by 6:00 in the morning, areas of snowshowers rapped showers blue and green across the area. rapidly moving northeast. we may have a break of several hours. it's not impossible that the sun could make an appearance. the winds will rach up. quickly through the midday and the afternoon, clouds and the showers back in as the area of low pressure goes east of us. winds up very quickly. that increases the wind, increases the precipitation. band of snowshowers at 5:30 through the area. getting through the late night hour it will clear out. looks like by sunday we will start the day with the sunshine. maybe get cloudiness increasing late in day. tomorrow afternoon at 4:00, nats have a home game. it will be breezy with rain or the snowshowers possibility with the gusty winds. same for d.c. united. you can watch
