15-year-old davonte washington was fatally shot at this same metro stop while standing on the station platform with family. tonight we asked police about patrols in the neighborhood and at this station. >> the metropolitan police department has been involved working with the metro police on patrols in this area. the incident the way it unfolded was very quick. we will take a look back to see what the police response was, how quickly a police officer got here or whether or not there was a police officer here at the time. brianne: we know in the past weeks metro transit police stepped up its controls as well. there are a lot of cameras inside and outside the station as well. police are reviewing those. coming in tonight at 5:00, who is now stepping in to say they will be patrolling the station as well. brianne carter, abc7 news. jonathan: thank you. right now d.c. mayor muriel bowser is getting ready to walk the street of

neighborhood where a little girl was shot in the chest late friday night. it happened in 2900 knox place, a few blocks from garfield elementary school. diane cho is there live as the walk is about to begin. diane? diane: the mayor is going to hold a press conference first. as soon as that is over she will walk the streets out here in this community with d.c. police trying to gather more information about what unfolded out here on friday night. police say the 7-year-old little girl was struck by a stray bullet as she was coming home from dinner with her parents. police have been out knocking on doors ever since, canvassing the area to find out more about the gunman. they have been working around the clock since it happened to get to the bottom of the case. the assistant police chief says the little girl appears to be caught in a crossfire. the child's father's actions that night likely saved his daughter's life. >> t

out. you see a lot of people here? they are lobbyists and people pushing for a variety of bills. among the crowd here today, noah leotta's family. his own father and mother lobbying delegates. you can see them standing at the entrance of the house chamber today as delegates show up essentially for work to get down to business on the last day of the legislative session, trying to convince them that noah's law is something that needs to happen. the law would require everybody arrested for drunk driving get an ignition interlock put in their car. what has happened just in the last half hour is that a conference committee has convened for the first time looking at the two different versions, the senate and the house version. proponents want the senate version. it is much tougher. it appears an agreement has been made but now they have to print up the wording and get together again and agree to it. a lot of pressure down here including from the head of mothers agai

singer bryan adams just canceled a concert in mississippi. the aclu is suing north carolinaed experts say the court could go -- suing north carolina and experts say the case could go all the way to the supreme court. elizabeth hur, abc7 news. jonathan: leon harris is at the live desk to explain why several people have been arrested. leon: they are democracy spring and calling for campaign reform. a group of them pledged to take part after marching from the liberty bell in philadelphia a week or so ago. we have been watching the crowd. it looks like several hundred out there, not thousands. dozens have been arrested. they are there to protest what they say is the influence of big money in politics. they are having what they say will be a peaceful sit-in to

jonathan: we have gotten the new information about a shooting. they shot a burglar last night on laurel on the indus food international market. jeff goldberg has more on the investigation. what happened? jeff: we are learning new details. first, it happened accidently and the officer involved tried to help victim and tried to console him after the gun discharged, act

the 20-year-old suspect. the burglary call came in last night at 11:20 at the indus food international market in lauren. police arrived and found a suspect. 15-year-old male running from the scene. he ignored commands to stop. so an officer fired a taser at the teenager who was later treated and released from the hospital. a group of four others entered the rear entrance of the grocery store when an officer noticed move in the the dark. he became startled and he jumped back. in the process the officer's gun accidentally discharged, striking a 20-year-old suspect. the suspect was trying to hide lying down on a piece of sheet metal inside the store. the officer is a swat team member and firearms instructor. >> he immediately rendered aid to the victim. even consoling him

jonathan: breaking news we are just getting in, in the case of 7-year-old shot in the direction. diane cho is joining us live. what do you have for us? diane: well, d.c. police just announced just a few minutes ago, jonathan, they have made an arrest in this case. now the mayor had planned on holding a news conference and a community walk here in southeast d.c. where the shooting took place today. earlier today. they are still doing that now. police say the 7-year-old girl was walking home from dinner with her parents when she was struck by a stray bullet. police were out this weekend knocking on doors, canvassing the area, trying to find out more about the suspect. suspects work around the clock according to thes saytant police chief to try to get to the bottom of the case. we are told that the little girl is in fair and stable condition. we have more details tonight at 5:00. back to you. michelle: thank you for

were questioning after a fire killed more than 100 people at a temple in southern india. more than 500 others were injured. there ill nited a stock pile of other fireworks to cause a huge fire that you saw. at least ten people associated with the fire are on the run. jonathan: a fire ripped through a bed and breakfast rented out to a wedding party over the weekend but no one was hurt. kellye lynn joins us to tell us how they got out safely. kellye: thanks to actions of a brave 10-year-old. if you look at what is left, you know how devastating the fire could have turned out to be. >> a lot of smokes and we started to see the flames. >> the 10-year-old saw flames 10:30 saturday night. >> i wasn't thinking about it. we ran out. i had my coat and

michelle: another busy weekend for candidates in vote 2016. scott thuman is here to break it all down. topping the headlines, donald trump complaining about the system being rigged when it comes to the delegate count in colorado. scott: yeah. specifically about colorado. he has been quiet. we hadn't heard a ton from him. then over the weekend in what is not the traditionable frame of thought on -- traditional frame of thought on how colorado vote. they have a state convention where representatives of the party go. they vote on who the delegates are that will go to the national convention. they will cast their vote. cruz won there and he swept. as a result, donald trump says the system is rigged. this is unfair. colorado average citizens didn't get to vote.

representatives got to have a convention. because ted cruz had a better ground game in that particular system and lobbied for the support, donald trump didn't do as much. he lost. now we are hearing complaining from him. michelle: we are seeing that donald trump is missing out on some votes because his kids missed a deadline to register. scott: new york is a closed primary state. you have to be a registered republican to vote in the republican primary. two of his eldest children had not officially registered as republicans. they were democrats in the past. they didn't register as republicans and they can't vote for their father in the coming weeks. michelle: let's talk about the democrats now. bernie sanders in one conner and hillary in the other duking it out in brooklyn. scott: new york is interesting. this is an adopted state for hillary clinton. senate from there, we know. bernie sanders from there

senate bill 924 to the senate and they will concur this and it will be provided across the state. jonathan: tell us what the bill does. and the authority it will would give law enforcement. >> what the senate bill 924 in the current form does is provide additional protection for harassment and malicious destruction of property and allow for the judges to give protective orders to women survivorring from the type of abuse. this abuse often escalates to physical abuse and death. so the language as it sits allow for protective order to be issued for harassment and destruction of prompt. jonathan: the issues have come up before in front of lawmakers. why is there any resistance at all? angela: this is a

question. this language has been around since 2005. if you think of the women and children who died in that time, there is not any sound opposition to this bill. the only question is whether it will allow for increased privilege claims. this is tightly construed. we asked a judge to get a protective order, a judge would have to find a reasonable person would suffer mental and emotional distressed based on the acts reported. so it's not where it's a simple i broke a plate, i'm just calling to check on the kids. this is for serial and criminal harassment that is taking place. >> we wish you the best of luck with the efforts. we will let know how it turns out. thank you. michelle: breaking

some of our "good morning washington" colleagues went to find out why "jeopardy" is here in town taping. >> it's not as easy as you may think to become a contestant on "jeopardy." 80,000 people take a test online to get a call from producers. only 5,000 get a call and only 400 make it to the show. how does "jeopardy" determines who makes it on the main stage? last week the "good morning washington" went to find out. the results weren't good. if someone is lucky enough to get a call from the producers they are invited to audition in person where they take a written test. that's where we realized well were in big trouble. 50 questions and only eight seconds to come up with the answer. i was hopeful that i could get a few questions correct. junny seemed find. the casting team has you play a mock version of the show. the
