wednesday and her car was found in the shenandoah national park but no sign of her. officials from her fire station and her family talked about their concern. our northern virginia bureau chief is live outside the station. >> this was a very emotional news conference this morning at 10:00. fire station 32. 31-year-old nicole mittendorff was working out of here since joining three years ago and where officials made a desperate plea to the public for help in trying to locate her. surrounded by members of the fire department at station 32, we heard from the chief and the husband of nicole mittendorff. urging the public to come forward with any information they may have about nicole mittendorff's disappearance. the state police continues

shenandoah national park near where her mini-cooper was discovered on saturday. she was reported missing last friday and was last heard and seen from last wednesday. that is what fire officials say this morning. her husband delivered a message to his wife. >> i love you. i am praying for you. i am not sure where you are. we are all looking for you. i look forward to your safe return. >> that is the hope and the believe we heard from this morning. virginia state police is continuing its investigation and the search. members of the fairfax county fire and rescue team are helping with that search. we expect some sort of an update on the search from the state police sometime today. tomorrow night at station 32, a prayer vigil at 7:30 in honor

her safe return. jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. loved ones later will hold a viewing for the firefighter killed while conducting a welfare check in temple hills. his wife released a statement familyght saying -- doesn't begin to describe the sense of belonging i feel towards brothers and sisters of this international association of firefighters. investigators say the gunman feared he was having a diabetic emergency. responded him when no one answered, then the men inside feared it was a home invasion and fired his gun, no charges have been filed. in prince george's county, police confirmed a suspect dead after a late-night standoff that played out on springhill court in greenbelt.

situation ended with gunfire. we are in greenbelt with the latest. >> the man at the center of this standoff is dead this afternoon. complete chaos after he fired at police and terrified residents. active scene as investigators collect evidence left behind. we are on springhill court near connecticut avenue and the beltway, at 10:30 last night, residents called saying the suspect was firing his gun. when police and special operations arrived, the 28-year-old started shooting at them. he barricaded himself and let a tense standoff that lasted for nearly two hours. >> trying to make sure citizens were safe. trying to make sure citizens and the officers were safe and neutralize the situation. >> my husband grabbed my kids
