delegates. >> reporter: and donald trump. >> thank you very much, everybody. thank you. >> reporter: meanwhile, city officials here have called for an audit of the board of elections after a reported problem at some of the polling places especially in brooklyn where more than 125,000 voters were reportedly dropped from the rolls. ryan and diane? >> marci, thank you. let's get a closer look into the minds of new york sproertz.donald trump benefited from his home state advantage and exit polling a record number of republicans said he's got the best chance to beat hillary clinton in in november. among democrats, two-thirds of voters said clinton has a better chance of beating trump compared to bernie sanders. >> abc political director shushannah walshe is here with insight and a look ahead. talk to me about these wins for trump and clinton. how big is this for them? >> these are significant wins. they both won by wider margins than the polls showed and they are their

hillary clinton, hope state for donald trump. but they're still significant wins. going forward, donald trump needs -- he still -- he's one -- a contested convention is still a very likely possibility for donald trump. and, of course, there's no nobody that wants a contested convention less than donald trump. but his numbers, he won big in new york. but he has to have a repeat performance in the states going forward. now, new york was his home state. so that's an uphill climb that he may just not be able to pull off. >> how much more likely is he to get the requisite amount of delegates before the convention with this win tonight. >> you're saying it's a possibility. but has it become more likely because of tonight? >> it's more likely but still hard. he won it by about 60% tonight. last night. and he needs to have almost 60% in the contest going forward. and that is going to be pretty difficult. ted cruz,

new york values comment really hurt him in new york. he looks to be totally shut out of the -- out of getting delegates last night. now it's mathematically impossible for him to clinch before the convention in july. >> and then on the democratic side, we saw huge crowds come out for busy. he seemed confident he was going to get an upset here. it didn't seem the crowds translayed to votes. what does this mean for both clinton and sanders? >> large crowds, some of his largest of his campaign, but still hillary clinton won by a significant margin. bernie sanders is from brooklyn and he campaigned hard. his campaign even outspent hillary clinton. but he needed to win big here to cut into her delegate margin. this is a delegate race. and that didn't happen tonight. >> okay. so the next super tuesday comes up soon. next tuesday. what's at stake? >> it's funny that you call this super tuesday because there are several states voting. pennsylvania, connecticut, dewa

so that's a significant delegate haul. and because of their big wins last night, donald trump and hillary clinton, they have the momentum going into next tuesday. >> what are the underdogs now have to do in order to turn this around. >> when you look at the gop side, they have to start convincing the unbound delegates they are going to be the most popular, the prettiest girls in the room when it comes to cleveland in july. and that when it comes to cruz and kasich, because they're mathematically eliminated from getting this before the convention in july, that's the only way for them to get the nomination. >> what about. >> go ahead. >> what about for trump? this is still kind i've sweet spot even if he doesn't get the magic number. >> exactly. >> there's a little woog he can do. >> the wooing will be done by all three of them. but donald trump has an edge because if we get through voting through the end -- through june and he is close, say he's 30 or 50 or even 100 delegates off, then he has several weeks where he can woo these

delegates. >> the very thing he's been rallying against. >> right. but he did on sunday hint he has better toys, those are his toys than mine than ted cruz. he can wine and dine these delegates maybe take them to mar-a-lago on his plane and try to convince them to vote for him on that first ballot in july in cleveland. and then it wouldn't go to a second ballot and you won't have this multiballot convention. of course, that would be good news for donald trump because he and his campaign know that the first ballot is going to be the best for him. >> good time to be a gop delegate right about now. shoshana, thank you so much. abc's political director. it's always great to have you break there down for us. >> we have much more from the primary in our next half hour. we'll check in with our reporters closely covering each campaign. >> overseas now and new details from the deadly taliban attack in the capital of afghanistan. at least 28 people are dead after a bomber blew himself up

these residents risking their safety going inside their homes gathering whatever they can salvage. furniture, a refrigerator, and most importantly, sentimental items like blankets and toys that belonged to those lost. in the rubble, we found these photographs of a little boy's birthday party. that boy in the photo is this man. augustine santana. he breaks down, telling us, his wife, his 1-year-old daughter, his mother and two other family members were all inside and are all dead. your wife and your baby? she was holding your baby? and this town got its miracle. authorities telling us they rescued an 85-year-old man tuesday from the rubble. still, the mayor says, he thinks hundreds more are buried under buildings like this one. linzie janis, a

a so-called bathroom rule which barred a transgender teen from using the boy's restroom at his virginia high school has been overturned by a federal appeals court in virginia. grampb grimm was born female but identifies as male. he says the policy was diskrim natory. that ruling could still be appealed. it could have implications for a similar new law in north carolina which critics also say is discriminatory. comedian tracy morgan has cancel add upcoming show in mississippi because of that state's religious objections law. the law takes effect july 1st allowing some private businesses to deny services to lgbt people citing religious beliefs. morgan's performance was scheduled for next friday. >> utah declares pornography a public health crisis. resolution passed back in march but the governor held a symbolic signing ceremony yesterday. the resolution does not make pornography illel.

time now for "the mix" and we start with a situation at the university of nebraska omaha where a student there is getting a full scholarship, full year scholarship because of her tinder photo. i'll explain. this is shannon workman. she put a photo up on tinder and in one of her profile photos she had her sorority letters on her shirt. that's the chai omega sorority. this apparently violated their human dignity rule and so they were going to kick her out. she pulled the old you can't fire me, i quit move and dropped out of the sorority. twitter however ended up finding out about this and they decided to come to her defense. they offered her a full year
