the focus remains on hope and finding nicole who hasn't been heard from in a week. the 31-year-old called in sick wednesday morning. she did not work thursday and friday she did not report to work. that is when she was reported missing. the search and the rescue team have been combing the areas for days and they continue it today in a ruggedded landscape but with no luck. >> it's tough. yesterday we had a crew of special operations folks repelling the canyon. this is a rough area. white oak canyon. it's called a canyon for a region. we're searching the canyon area and it's very rough terrain.

in d.c. leon: in a scene that is too common, firefighters, police and first responders paid respect to firefighter. john ulmschneider laid to rest this afternoon the hollywood, maryland. shot while responding to a call friday night. fellow firefighters say the 13-year veteran nor his family will not be forgotten. >> we will be there with the family as long as they need us. >> the other fites inyou ared in the -- the other firefighter injured in the shooting continues to recover. the shooter thought someone was breaking in his home. extra help on the difficult day. firefighters from other departments responded to a fire in suitland to cover for prince george's firefighters attending the

leon: the flooding situation shows no sign of letting up in houston. more rain fell there today. skies aren't expected to clear up until friday. with so many of the streets washed out rescuers had to use boats to save people who didn't evacuate. houston is no stranger to flooding but even long-time residents there say this is unprecedented. >> the amount of rain we had in a short time and now the bands that have come back through. it's a concern. we had recession yesterday. but with the two or three inches if we get another two or one it could go back

we were. leon: the hardest hit is northwest houston. where major creek has yet to seacrest. the historic flooding killed seven people. flooded more than a thousand homes and cost estimated $5 billion in damage. maureen: "7 on your side" with a consumer alert. major part of the population left out of the housing. millennials. they don't have enough savings for a down payment on a home. the cause is the rising cost of houses and the condos. in fact, more than a third of american millennials currently renting have no money put away to buy a home. despite that, almost 80% of millennials say they want to become homeowners. leon: andrew jackson is out. harriet tubman is in. the u.s. treasury department making changes to the u.s. currency. jackson will be booted from the $20 bill. tubman will replace him on the face of it. no word on exactly when that change is going to happen and when it wi

excellence for the coral studies released a report that found 93% of the reef is suffering from some level of bleaching. that is what happens when algae that live inside the coral are expelled. that can be caused by extreme weather in the water temperature rises. three people now charged in connection with the toxic water crisis in flint, michigan. the first is city employee mike glasgow. the others stephen busch and mike prysby with the michigan department of environmental quality. flint's water was contaminated with lead after city officials decided to switch sources to save money. the investigation is not over yet. >> these charges are only the beginning. there will be more to come. that i can guarantee you. leon: no word on when an arraignment will take place. we will stay on top of it and report it for you. maureen: around the district today, counselman charles allen wants -- councilman charles allen wants to tweak the license plate and introduced a message

all through the midatlantic very comfortable. there is much warmer air all day. west of the appalachians. charleston is 82. 85 in knoxville and louisville. we will see warmer air tomorrow and friday. because the increased cloud cover on friday we won't see the temperatures spike in 80's. instead it's 70's. friday is the day for the cold front to approach and give it scattered showers and a few afternoon thunderstorms. looking for a quarter to a half inch of rain. knowing we are well over three inches deficient rainfall for a month and a half. we can use whatever we get. the front will turn into the warm front later in the day tomorrow. start opening the door for the air to moisturize a bit. higher dew point and the humidity levels will develop. we watch timing here. thursday, at that time. late afternoon and the early evening. scattered showers popping up through the ohio valley. we get through friday morning the showers make a run. we are thinking at 10:00 or 111 11:00, isolated thunderstorm or two.
