>> from abc 7 news, this is a breaking news alert. jummy: d.c. breaking news in northwest d.c. d.c. police responding to a stabbing near wilson high school. authorities believe the victim is a student. sam sweeney is with breaking details. we understand this may have been a robbery attempt. reporter: that is what police are telling us. they say the student was getting

morning behind a high school. a man approached him. a brief struggle ensued. the boy was able to get away. we are told he is a senior here at wilson high school. he was stabbed in the light before he got away. he came into the school and told a stitcher -- teacher he had been stabbed. the teacher called 911 and he was taken to the hospital. the suspect is described as hispanic in his 30's in dark clothing. he took off into the woods behind wilson high school. there was a brief search that came up with nothing. crime scene technicians are working around the student's car behind the high school trying to figure out what happened. i talked to some of the student's friends and they tell me they have been messaging with him and he is expected to be ok. life at wilson high school, sam sweeney. back to you. jummy: scary stuff. house on the scene at a fire in

photos. when firefighters arrived, the fire was showing through the roof. it caused significant damage to the home. more than 200 firefighters responded and were able to quickly put out the flames. no word on injuries or what caused the fire. but we will stay on top of this story on-air and online at wjla.com. police are combing through clues in a murder in montgomery county. the victim only 18. he was found dead in a park last night. police say gang activity might be to blame. as suzanne kennedy tells us, it has community members on edge. reporter: this is where the latest homicide in the county happened. authorities are left to figure out who committed this violent act in a park in a quiet residential neighborhood. the violent act took place overnight yards from west to elementary school. crime scene tape

place that is supposed to be safe. authorities say the 18-year-old male was assaulted at the park andrew driven to a hospital where he died. >> investigators are looking at the possibility he may have had withprevious association his assailant or attackers. reporter: the park includes a ball field and playground and sits adjacent to a quiet neighborhood. residents awoke to the news of the murder, a rare occurrence in this area of montgomery village. >> we don't have homicide. we don't have many robberies. we don't have a lot of crime. that is part of the reason we live here. >> we don't have those things happen around here. it makes it a little scary. reporter: police expect to have more information on the case later today, including the victim's identity. suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. jummy:

county police investigating what they have called a suspicious death. a family member found the 21-year-old inside a home in centerville on sunday. police are only saying there was trauma to the upper body. neighbors told us they heard screaming coming from the townhouse. police are looking into the victim's past to piece things together. this just in to the newsroom. a federal appeals court has ruled tom brady must serve a four-game suspension for deflategate. in january of 2015 during the afc championship game, members of the cold accused the patriots of using inflated football. brady was issued a suspension, but an appeals court decided he did not have to serve it. today's ruling reverses that decision. stay with us for the latest on this one. enjoy the sunshine today. a live look at the white house. a beautiful start to the workweek. doug hill is here with how warm it will get. doug: probably upper 70's and close to 80.

midday construction. we have had a couple of closures in the last hour on the capital beltway. we want to start on interstate 66 where we have problems due to an earlier crash cleanup. it has been cleared off the roadway eastbound. when you pass 123, you will see everything on the side. we are slowly getting up to speed. for a while, we were jammed solid. let's take a quick peek at the capital beltway. traveling in fairfax county, 50 at arlington boulevard. a crash cleanup. bigger problems have been in prince george's county where we were closed on the capital beltway for a crash. that continues to be a problem with the right lane blocked. we had a closure in greenbelt on the outer loop between u.s. one and 95. that has reopened. we are dealing with midday constructi z

repairs, trains out that were bypassing other stations. by midmorning, service was back to normal. the problem comes on the heels of saturday night's smoke incident, also along the red line. were evacuated as smoke started to build the tunnel near frederick height. the federal transit administration and metro continue to investigate the cause. the smoke was likely the result of an parking tickets insulator. >> they need to get it done. reporter: that is exactly what he is working on. he is expected to lay out a maintenance plan in the coming weeks to outline how to get metro back on track. brianne carter, abc 7 news. twoy: a major change for d.c. high schools goes into effect hours from now. starting today, the district is staggering dismissal times for students at rival high schools. mckinley tech students will get out at 3:05. dunbar students will be dismissed at 3:25.

winer started shooting at a distance and did not appear to be targeting specific students. the search intensifying for the killer or killers responsible for murdering eight ailing members in ohio. seven adults and 116-year-old shot at found quadricep homes. marijuana growing operations were found at three of the crime scenes. the shootings were so well-planned that e sheriff has devised -- advised remaining family members to consider carrying weapons. today marks one year since the baltimore uprising began. yesterday, hundreds gathered for a unity march in freddie gray's honor. the march took place at the epicenter of the unrest where a cvs was burned down. thousands marched toward city
