uprooting trees, downing power lines and destroying homes and other buildings. >> take a look at the radar this morning. you can see those storms are still far everywhere dissipating. that major system still marching east. stretching nearly 1200 miles from the southeast up into the ohio valley and great lakes region. >> and those storms are still causing major problems in the south along the gulf coast, triggering dramatic water rescues. abc's phillip mena has the latest from gulfport, mississippi. >> reporter: tornado sirens on the mississippi gulf coast. lightning and heavy rain. the flash flood emergency unfolding on live tv. >> it's happening right now. i'm looking at it. someone's being rescued from their car in the ditch. >> reporter: another motorist running through the flood getting that window down and pulling a woman to safety. >> you can definitely tell that this is a dangerous situation out here. >> reporter: keep your eye on that traffic light as howling winds send it crashing down. >> whoa. there went one. >> reporter: up to 10 inches of rain swamping streets. lf

tornadoes, all those modes of severe weather again possible along with very heavy rain which could trigger more flash flooding. lots of tropical moisture meeting up with dry air. much of oklahoma and texas will be under the threat zone this afternoon and also into tonight. northeast, the showers much wider. they will be problematic in terms of causing slippery conditions travel delays along the 95. more rain this weekend with the severe weather continuing in the deep south. back to you. >> thank you. turning now to politics and what was a wild scene outside a trump rally in southern california. >> hundreds of protesters jammed the streets in costa mesa last night. they stomped on squad cars, hurled rocks and blocked a highway entrance ramp as police in riot gear swooped in. many of them were protesting trump's stance on immigration. inside the rally, trump spoke to 18,000 people and he brought
