sweeney is covering metro from federal center with how the agency is scrambling to get the brands together. sam: all eyes are on metro today. it was supposed to be the final safetrackveal of the program. we were supposed to learn today when tracks would be closing, when stations would close over the next year, but that's on hold after the federal government threw a curveball last week saying, look, our federal inspectors have found area of track that need to be serviced now. work says, ok, we will with you, we will address those concerns, but give us a couple of days to incorporate those plans into our plans, basically plants together. they say it is like moving moving puzzle-- pieces around. those who use metro every day are saying, give us answers. >> we appreciate the hard work everyone does.

it's a repeat -- this rain is going to make a run on us tomorrow. -- a variation of the weather pattern we've seen the last six or seven weeks. one quick look at our week at a glance, the rain moving in tomorrow morning, with us through the day, maybe up to one inch in some areas. we will look at our prospects for sunshine later in the week in just a few minutes. jummy: a check of our roadways. jamie sullivan joins us with a look at our traffic watch. jamie: a lot of work zones in place, also a gas line repair just north of the capital beltway, columbia pike heading southbound at timber wood avenue -- at timerwood avenue. closer to the beltway, we are in the 50's. pretty good through silver spring. toward bethesda, not bad. 95, moving well. some slowing in the district at the third street tunnel,

southbound. the slowing, because of a work zone. traffic looks pretty good on 395. 66, the gw parkway -- no work being done. further south i-95, we are ok through newington and wharton. 95 south on the heaviest stretch will take you 22 minutes from the occoquan to triangle. this is because of a work zone that is in place that we have all this congestion. once you get past trying though, it does loosen up. riangle, it does loosen up. jummy: school teachers are -- nding that suzanne kennedy explains that this will be the second demonstration in just two weeks. : about two dozen teachers are protesting this morning. you can see them as they march through downtown was

right now on 13th street in northwest. they are protesting the lack of contract negotiations with the district. the previous contracts last in 2012 -- lapsed in 2012. the president of the washington teachers union says they want retroactive pay raises and significant hikes going forward. here is what else she and teachers had to say about the situation. >> we thought they offer for compensation was reasonable. we did pattern bargaining's based on pay raises given to the police department. we expect that teachers should be considered for the same raises. >> i think it's fairly insulting for some of the people doing the hardest work in our country in our capital, we can't even respect them enough to give them a wage that allows them to live in the district. the school system says they are disappointed at the lack of progress. in northwest washington, back to you. jummy: a crime alert

in arlington. police say they are looking for a man who broke into a woman's home and sexually assaulted her. this happened just before 5:00 yesterday morning on the 7500-block -- the 700-block of edgewood street. woman called 911. she believes he may have been lingering arnd the house the night before. the attacker is believed to be driving oa tan colored, four-dor sedan. -- family andd friends will gather to remember a mother who was killed in a shooting spree earlier this month. tonight's visitation will be held at the shrine of saint jude catholic church in rockville. tonight, a vigil will be held for gladys tordil. the man accused in the murders was her estranged husband, eulalio tordil. students are holding the vigil at paral

announcer: you are watching abc 7 news at noon, on your side. jummy: the washington monument is still closed well crews try to fix issues with the elevator's power. no one was stuck this time. that's the good news. the monument has been closed several times in recent months, including last month when the elevator got stuck twice in one week. it could reopen, quote, "soon."

happening into a partial building collapse. fenwick street is partially closed. john gonzalez shows us the damage and the new concerns moving forward. fenwick street remains closed because of the debris and rubble that still litter the roadway. this is the ivy city neighborhood here in northeast, right next to the old warehouse. if you lived in washington for a while, you know what this is. -- oldre all things buildings being refurbished. this was the old tomato packing plant. a pretty severe partial collapse of this wall. officials believe strong winds yesterday afternoon caused all of this. it's not only the collapse. you have the landing. the ground way -- ground level is giving away to the basement. there are engineers looking at the structure to see how

now, you see you can literally look right through the building across the way. on the other side of the street, you have a planet fitness. we spoke to a young lady who goes to that gym every day. >> oh, my god, that's a big hole. i'm used to this being open. the bus comes through here daily. to see this hole in the wall, i'm like, what happened? john: the concern is the rest of the stability -- the stability of the rest of the building and even other structures. the good news is, no one was trapdoor injured. a special team came through and sifted through the rubble. no injuries or casualties, but a couple of close calls. jummy: this noon, the search is on for the mother who fell overboard on a cruise ship. the search has been suspended. cameras caught

samantha broberg falling backward off a raili on the carnegie -- carnival liberty cruise. were searching more than 4300 square miles of ocean, but ended the search this morning. her family, though, still holding out hope. >> most of us look at the search as though it were a member of our own family. >> it sounded like she fell overboard or jumped. jummy: broberg fell 200 miles southeast of galveston, texas. her family tell abc news they are shocked and saddened, but hopeful she will be found. if you wear one of those fitness devices that track your steps, did you know the data could be used against you? in a special report tonight, we will show you how every step could follow you to court. john for donovan -- jennifer

brief onshore flow, it will be chilly. upper 50's to about 60 tomorrow with rain. thereafter, it will start to warm up just a little bit. not an exact repeat of what we've seen in recent weeks but it has some similarities. at heaviest rain coming 9:00, 10:00, through early tomorrow afternoon. 1:00 tomorrow, pretty solid rain all across the metro. by late afternoon, the rain ends. wednesday commute, patches of rain throughout the day. as the front continues on its way, i think we will clear out on thursday, but that's not a done deal yet. precipitation starts tapering off early thursday morning. heavier amounts in the northern and western parts of the area, up to 1.5" in some areas. temperatures in the mid-60's with plenty of sunshine today. tomorrow, rain likely at times, high tempe

jummy: this weekend was a bit of a role reversal for an actor on "the wire," wendell pierce. he was released on a $1000 bond. aggressive bees are terrorizing a california town, and beekeepers are fighting to get them under control. these swarms are believed to be africanized killer bees. residents say they have chased people into their homes. two people even hospitalized because of the stings. >> they were super aggressive. they were following us, going after us, banging the windows. times.ably, 7, 8, 9 there's 10. jummy:

blamed for the death of two dogs. officials say they destroyed the hive, but some of the bees are still ringing around. inan bitten by a shark florida -- a woman bitten by a shark in florida was taken to the hospital with a shark still clinging to her right arm. when crews arrived, the shark was dead, but it maintained its grip. the 23-year-old is stabilized and recovering. these sharks are not considered aggressive. here at home, unseasonably cool out there today. doug
