safe. the archdiocese would not name the school but some parents of local catholic school students have received e-mails warning them about this scam. the search is on for a missing puppy stolen from a car in the district. the owners now offering a $10,000 reward for the safe return of their dog. sam sweeney is in northwest with how this all happened and that is research that is now underway. we are talking a lot of money on the table for this dog, $10,000. it means the world to these dog owners. it was stolen from my car here on this intersection, one of the busiest intersections in washington in the middle of the afternoon in front of the convention center. the owners tell me they went food. to get while they were gone, someone came up to the window, smashed it, and grabbed the dog. the only thing left is a little piece of glass on the concrete. take a look at this puppy.

some areas of rain west of the metro area. now that abortion is more to the northeast and east. as long as this holds, we will not see any rain in the metro area. we will keep our eyes open. the rain moving to the northeast along the frontal system. at some point later, there could be a few showers. there is a separate area along the coast that will not bother us as well. that will generally after tonight keep us dry through the day tomorrow even though it will be cloudy and eventually lead to improving conditions around the region by the time we roll into friday. today, cannot rule out a shower. north and west of the city, highs only about 64 degrees. as we get through the night, clouds through the afternoon stay around, but the showers remain to the west. that pattern will hold at least through the overnight and maybe tomorrow early in the mo

>> you are watching abc 7 news at noon, on your side. melanie: a major change in overtime pay impacting more than 4 million u.s. workers. the labor department is expanding mandatory overtime pay to salary workers who make less than $44,000 a year or about $913 a week. that is roughly double the current threshold. the changes go into effect december 1. they are expected to impact retail and restaurant industries the most. they will update the qualifying salary figures every three years to keep up with factors like inflation. a consumer alert now. quaker oats is recalling some of its granola bars due to a possible health scare. it impacts the chocolate not medley quinoa granola bars. also, quicker yogurt fruit and nut quinoa granola bars

number of casualties so this is a triage set up. let's talk to the hospital emergency manager. give us a little play-by-play of what is going on. >> we don't know the nature of the chemical yet, but we know there will be victims coming this way. we are setting up our entire decontamination sector to make sure we can treat them appropriately and adequately, give a chemical off of them, and then move them to the emergency room, where they will receive emergency treatment. john: how essential is a training like this? >> i can't tell you how critical this is. this is the nation's capital. we are going to have some sort of a hazardous material into the that could happen at anytime, any minute, with any chemical, and you must be ready. these drills are critical. john: this started at 6:00 this morning and will go until 4:00 in the afternoon. you will see first responders, emergency vehicles at different locations. keep in mind, just a training exercise. back to you inside. melanie: thank you. soldiers and police are digging
