good morning to you. i'm diane maceda. >> and i'm phillip mena. we begin with that major announcement by president obama taking a step with normal relationship with an old enemy. >> he announced the end of an arms embargo with the country, something vietnamese leaders had long sought. abc's bob woodruff is traveling with the president and he joins now. >> reporter: good morning, yes some very big news this morning. a short while ago, president obama announced that the u.s. has agreed to lift the long-standing arms embargo which made it illegal to sell lethal weapons to vietnam. that ban is now officially over but there are lingering concerns about vietnam's human rights record. it's interesting that obama

the parkway apartments. police tell us that officers arrived on the scene and found a man shot. he later died at the hospital. p-g-crime-solvers is offering a 25-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. and we are following more breaking news - this one out of falls church. a shooting there - sent one man to the hospital. police say officers responded to the 29-hundred block of stillwood circle just before midight. e-m-s workers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound - his injuries are not life threatening. no arrests have been made and police have not released any details about a possible suspect.

turning to the war on terror-- this morning a fierce gun battle in raging in the iraqi city of fallujah. the iraqi government launched an offensive to retake the country, after it fell into the hands of isis back in 20-14. analysts say tens of thousands of iraqi civilians still live in the city. government agents are asking everyone to evacuate if possible. in the past few months, iraqi troops have retaken several cities from isis with the help of air-attacks from the u-s, and other allies. breaking overnight - a major announcement from president obama during his historic trip to vietnam. the president announced that the white house is lifting the ban on weapons sales to america's one-time foe. mister obama said dropping the ban is part of a deeper defense cooperation between the two countries - and not a way to counter china's growing strength in the region. president obama will spend three days in the country, talking about discuss regional security and support for his trans-pacific partnership trade deal.
