moments. but brad bell will kick off the coverage. live here in bay bridge. how is it looking now? brad: pretty good. i'm at the toll booth now. tonight i'm the bearer of good news. you can see no lines. people moving smoothly across the bay bridge. you know this is thursday. not friday. we have been told that tonight is the busiest travel time of the holiday weekend. 38 million americans expected to hit the road. that is more than we have seen in 2005. one of the big one is the gasoline prices. they are 30 suspects a gallon less than last year. the other one i'm saying is simple human nature. people are seeing sunshine finally after all of this rain. people we talk to said if there is any traffic out here they are not worried about it. they want to get to the beach.

reporter brianne carter. can you top that? brianne: i'll try, leon. we are on 95 north. we went south to quantico to see if we had any better luck for people heading north to the beaches. take a look. it looks great out here. what we are starting to see in the southbound lanes is the volume starting to build. if you are heading out 95 south in virginia, just heads up we are starting to see the main lane that the traffic is starting to build. if you are in the easy pass lane or the express lane you will pay for it. starting at the top to get to stafford. we saw $19.50 to use the lanes. but boy are they moving tonight. that seems to be the best bet. if you are heading south to stafford or fredericksburg away from the city. as brad mentioned, the transportation and planning board saying tonight this was going to be the key time for people who were going to be getting away for the holiday get away. we are just star

clinton. leon: good samaritans credited with helping save aviators of a midair collision. they were training off the coast of cape hatteras. those on board managed to eject. nearby fishing boat rushed to find survivors. coast guard stepped in. rushed them off to a hospital to be checked out. turns out they all escaped with only minor injuries. ahead at 6:00 -- maureen: bears brawling on someone's back patio. why the woman who shot the video says she stopped recording after a few seconds. leon: police a woman known as "mama marine" laid in rest in honor. what made her decision to join the marines so remarkable. maureen: only on 7 -- mother's outrage. >> when i heard about that, it of course made my world stop instantly. maureen: why a picture caused her son with special needs to be terrified to return to school.

buttocks exposed. the picture went viral. we protected the mother's identity to protect her son. >> you want to protect your kids and tell him everything will be okay. with social media you can't just go grab it and take it off. this child needs more than a slap on the hand. >> the mother says she wants the teen charged as a sex offender. right now he is facing peeping charges in juvenile court. he has written a letter of apology. so far the school has not taken any disciplinary action. maureen: a former loudoun county p.t.a. president is facing charges he embezzled $13,000. 51-year-old was indicted last week. he came under suspicion in march after unauthorized charges were nowned in the organization financial records. fairfax county police are looking for a woman who may be able to help find the suspect in a recent homicide. today

sketch of the woman they emphasize is not a suspect. investigators say she was in the area before 24-year-old tarreece sampson was killed. sampson, fairfax county classroom assistant shot to death friday outside of alexandria. leon: metro passenger is treated for injury suffered in an attempted robbery. this happened after noon at the l'enfant plaza station. police say the suspect knocked the victim on to platform in the robbery attempt. metro police quickly caught the suspect. the victim is now being treated for minor injuries. maureen: up next at 6:00, bears fighting. julius outside the woman's backdoor. the reason she said she stopped taking the video after a few seconds. leon: hopefully to run away. maureen: yeah. leon: doug hill has a look at the beach forecast. we'll find out where and when a potential named storm could affect your plans. maureen: "7 on your side" protecting senior citizens. every day seniors are targeted by identity theft schemes and other scams. if yo

geico. expect great savings and a whole lot more. maureen: memorial day tradition on some of the most hallowed ground in this nation. the army's third infantry regimen the old guard placed flags on each of the 230,000 marble headstones at arlington national cemetery. the mission takes four hours. tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the cemetery in the coming days. a trail blazing woman is joining the ranks of those interred at arlington national cemetery. >> mama marine, her final tribute. at 93 -- maureen: burial service held today for a woman who was one of the first of her "jeopardier" in the marine corps. known to friends as "momma marine" joined the corps as soon as it began allowing women in 1943.

exactly what happened to her early tuesday morning so she immediately started recording. >> i could see the other one start coming out of the woods. what you see is what you got. diane: she says she was standing inside of her home a few feet away before she eventually turned off the camera, scared the bears would come crashing through the sliding glass door. >> i was worried about what would happen. they were going to get more serious about fighting. diane: they trampled through the flowers, bent the fence and threw her daughter's toy car off the porch. she says the bears ended up sticking around for 30 minutes before she started banging on the door scaring them off. but this isn't her first run-in with bears. this is video she took last year of the bears gathering around their chestnut tree. >> my grand dad would sit on the porch. after a while he got tired of trying to scare them off. you know? it wasn't working. they would still come
