any minute. a lot of her staff has already shown up, waiting to hear what she has to say. you can see one of the posters here. she will be surrounded hereby the department of transportation and the district and also the d.c. cap commission, expected to lay out plans such as modifying signals for traffic lights, easing parking restrictions, and also creating temporary bike lanes here in the district. safe track, expected to begin, in under 36 hours on the orange in northernines virginia. they will be single tracking from boston to east falls church, but that will make trains run only every 18 minutes, even during the rush hour commute. we caught up with some of the writers who use metro daily.

dale city. we know there is a lot coming up with the safetrack plan and the next couple of days, but right now, blue and orange lines scheduled track works. and on the silver line, currently only running to boston because of the scheduled track work. police are investigating the death of a special needs men killed in a shooting yesterday after a confrontation over a basketball. john gonzalez is an landover hills with what we have learned about the victim and the urge that is ill on right now for the shooter. john: the police chief in prince george's county calling this a senseless murder. neighbors cannot wrap their heads around this, that it was all over a basketball. it was around 1:00 in the afternoon. we understand a young man in his early 20's was walking over to play basketball with some friends, perhaps even caregivers

, because he had special-needs and lived in a group home just up the street. police say the basketball he was carrying brushed up against a car, and the driver of the car got out, pulled out a gun, and man.d this young >> it's a great park. i'm out here with my kids and dog every day. it's shocking to me. like i say, i heard about it this morning. of kids that play. everybody gets along. john: police say they have reason to believe that another man who is either inside the inside shooter's car or talking to him saw the entire thing and actually try to help the young man who was shot multiple times, but witnesses say when he heard the police sirens, he took off. police obviously want to talk to that man and anyone who may have a description of the shooter and car. also in prince george's county, police say criminal charges are pending against

atv driver caught on camera taunting police. have you seen this video? driver doing wheelies and other dangerous stunts in the middle-of-the-road way. the officer did not try to pull him over because it is against the department pursuit policy. police say they have identified the driver and he faces several criminal charges. we want to get to some breaking news just in regarding the death of prince. the associated press reporting the star died from an opioid overdose. prince was found dead at his paisley park compound one day before he was supposed to meet with a doctor to help him with his a legend painkiller addiction. we will follow this story and have more information coming up starting at 4:00. meantime, a standoff in california between police and alleged gunman has just ended. police they a man who shot and during awo officers traffic stop is

police cruiser and shot an officer. the other officer was shot in pursuit of the suspect. down. tracked the suspect >> we had telephone conversations and dialogue back and forth. at that point, negotiations reached a point where we had to take action. we introduced gas into the house of it -- in the hopes flushing him out. he refused to come out. the update there, of course, the suspect now dead. the suspect remained inside. one of the officers injured listed in critical condition, the other in serious condition this noon. los angeles police have identified the gunman in a ucla murder suicide. nak sarkar gunned down and engineering professor before taking his own life

no parking restrictions around eight core doors to improve traffic flow. we will talk a little bit more about how we will accomplish that. we will expand no parking rush-hour zones at terminals for local and limited bus stops with enhanced service. we will put more traffic control officers on the street at bus bridges in critical intersections to facilitate the additional amount of service between stations that will be closed. we are also declaring a moratorium on public space construction work along certain to easers -- corridors construction. we are also exploring the option of extending weekend service hours on the d.c. circulator to 3:00 a.m. is airculator district-only bus that we control. we will also
