the victim's bicycle is still laying underneath the vehicle. police say that the victim was pinned under the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders but pronounced dead at the scene. they had the southbound lane of frederick avenue blocked off between chestnut and south summit avenue as they continue the investigation. they are can wanting to have the area blocked off for another three hours from what we are told by police. this happened around 2:30 this afternoon. in the 100 block of frederick avenue in gaithersburg. they aren't sure how the s.u.v. collided with the cyclist but the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating. we are told that person was not injured in the accident. they have not released the victim's name at this time. in gaithersburg, diane cho, abc7 news. jonathan: thanks. more breaking news this afternoon. blue angel jet has crashed in tennessee. chris papst now in the newsroom with the details on this. what do we know? chris: we are getting more

the sister station in nashville reporting there is at least one person dead. the one person has not been identified. we do not know if it's a pilot or somebody on ground. this is what we know. the u.s. navy blue angels jet crashed shortly after take-off. 3:00 this afternoon. practice flight for a show they have coming up this weekend in nashville, tennessee. here is nashville, a few miles southeast. airport for that location. quickly we want to show you a video that somebody took. shortly after this plane crashed. the person took this video. giant plume of smoke rising eerily up in the sky. you can see how big of a crash it was. how significant it was. off of that video with the person saying, "pray for the pilot." hopefully that person is safe. one person has been confirmed dead from the abc7 news affiliate in nashville. for now, live in the newsroom, chris papst. jonathan: another developing story. air force thunderbird jet on the opposite side of the coun

a flyover at the air force academy graduation ceremony. that is in colorado. the pilot ejected and landed safely. there were no injuries on the ground. but president obama delivered the commencement address and was inside the stadium at the time of the crash. we are told he is expected to meet with the pilot. michelle: back at home a boat full of students in restricted part of the chesapeake bay. alison: the boat started sinking and a waterman was close enough to help save the day. our maryland bureau chief brad bell is live in cambridge with more on the story. brad: the boat is off an island that was for years used by the army as target practice. the ground has eroded. sea level and the tides have take an toll on the island. the tanks are now under water. it's believed the chesapeake bay foundation boat hit one of

live at the eastern market station. after d.c. announced changes today. tell us about them. brianne: this is the same day they handed out the panel let laying out the safety surge 1 and surge 2. they are trying to ease the commute in the next year. in a matter of hours, commuting in the d.c. area is about to get more complicated. as metro's nearly year-long rebuilding project safetrack gets underway. >> the project will affect every single commuter. >> even the first of 15 safety surges will happen on the tracks in virginia. people heading in and out of d.c. will be impacted. today d.c. officials announce new plans to help reduce congestion for crush of commuters. parking downtown can be difficult starting next week there will be an additional

metro station is in custody. this happened on the platform at l'enfant plaza last night. metro transit police say this guy, 18-year-old jose pleitez grabbed a woman's behind and then he raced off. well, they raced him. they caught him. michelle: new development tonight and new bombshell in the ucla campus murder. alison: a third person now dead. this was hundreds of miles away. a kill list was found and the shooter mainak sarkar's minnesota home with several names. one woman on the list was found dead in brooklyn, minnesota. ucla professor william klug was killed on the shooting. the gunman's car is still missing. >> we believe the vehicle will be unoccupied. we don't believe there are outstanding suspects. we believe that the vehicle may contain

jonathan: "7 on your side" tonight after a neighborhood's call for help. the problem a massive dead tree that was hovering over several houses in one potomac neighborhood. montgomery county reporter kevin lewis is live now. this has been going on for over a year. kevin: yeah. absolutely, jonathan. this is a limb that snapped off the tree only two days ago. we

for future nfl stars to shine. jonathan: a redskins trainer's mistake putting the information of thousands of players who attended the camp at risk. alison: horace holmes is here to explain how it happened. horace: since the medical record affects thousands of nfl players and others who tried out for professional teams. according to information obtained through the nfl players association and the washington redskins this happened in indianapolis. this happened at the combine, an vent where representatives from all the nfl teams and the former college players who entered the draft gather for try-outs. police in indianapolis say someone broke in the car of a redskins trainer and stole a back pack. inside that back pack was a laptop that contained the medical records of perspective players and a number of current and past redskins players. the nfl players association learned of the crime and released a statement saying the backpack contained password protected but unencrypted laptop with copy

no one was injured. jonathan: bryan whitman is charged with stealing license plates off of a neighbor's car three times. it apparently stemmed from a fight over parking. stephen tschida is in the neighborhood to fill us in. stephen: people in the residence, this neighborhood stunned about a long-time resident, pentagon official suspended on administrative leave and facing charges because of a dispute over something like this. you see the parking pass here. some believe they are abused. the department of transportation tells us that a woman, the nanny that whitman went after did nothing wrong. it began with a note about a visitor parking pass. the person who wrote warned they would report the domestic employee posing and a visitor and have her car towed. the man who put men to paper, pentagon official bryan whitman. >> the pentagon, yeah. some pentagon official. yeah. crazy. that's

force thunderbird jet crashed minutes after performing at the air force academy graduation. in tennessee, a blue angel jet has crashed and we're learning that crash has turned deadly. chris papst has the latest live from the newsroom. chris? chris: just in the newsroom we know one person has died in that crash. it happened in nashville, tennessee. we do not yet know who the person is. we do not know the pilot. we know it happened near an apartment complex where it crashed. i want to show you where it happened and the pictures from people around it. here is nashville tennessee and the airport where it happened. southeast of the city. the first picture we can show you of the plume of smoke after the plane crashed. with the blue angels up here.
