trickle out as well as stories of survival. this 25-year-old was one of the 50 killed during the massacre. her brother share this snapchat video. it appears to show the beginning of the shooting spree. the ages of the victims range from 20 to 50. one survivor talked about her thoughts during the tragedy. >> the first thing i did was, i saw his wound. i took off my shirt and tied it around his leg to stop the bleeding. jummy: many of the wounded went into surgery yesterday. others are scheduled for operations throughout the day today. across the country, people are lining up to donate blood to help the survivors. orlando's one blood donation center said so many people wanted to donate the website crashed. we have post links to local -- posted links to local donation sites on wjla.com.

gunman from his own family. authorities say omar mateen pledged allegiance to isis moments for the shooting rampage -- moments before the shooting rampage. details are emerging about the suspect's behavior inside that nightclub and about his past. police were in communication with him and they describe his mannerisms inside the club and during the shooting as "cool and calm." there was a brief mention of isis. late this morning, we learned the shooter tried to buy military-grade body armor, which likely would have allowed him to survive a prolonged fight with police during this attack. we are learning more about his personal life. he is a divorced father. his ex-wife says he was abusive and expressed hate for gays. the 29-year-old is the son of afgh

with instead -- roadways instead. a huge mess in montgomery county. a water main break opened up on boston avenue near the intersection of east west. john: it has been a challenge getting the children and their parents across the street where this water main broke early this morning. take a look. this was quite a challenge. you see all of the equipment here. this is what crews were using to try to locate the valve. it took them some time to actually find that and shut off the water. now they are jack hammering, starting to fill up the avenue, which has already buckled in many sections. this is the corner of piney branch road and philadelphia avenue. crews

the hospital, five of them remain in grave condition. as far as what's happening right now, i can tell you all morning long, and investigators say this will be happening throughout the day, they are still processing the crime scene, taking pictures, collecting evidence wherever they can inside the nightclub. outside, atf agents have been here all morning long. at some point, they find -- formed a long straight across the street. they have been walking up and down the street, carefully inspecting every inch, looking for every -- any evidence. this is on top of the search that was conducted overnight. fbiorities confirming that investigators were in southern florida, where the suspect apartment -- suspect's apartment was searched. what, if anything, they

they are all supporting the ongoing investigation. our agents and investigators have been on the ground since the beginning and have been working around the clock since yesterday, and they will continue to do so in the days ahead. i want to thank our law enforcement colleagues in florida for their tireless and extraordinary work so far and their dedication to the ongoing investigation. i also want to be -- i've also been in contact with the attorney general, who is on her way back from china, and continues to monitor developments in the case. words cannot express the depth of our sorrow or the measure of our brief for the losses that have been suffered by -- of our grief for the losses that have been suffered and the lives changed forever. what happened in orlando was a horrifying act of evil and terror. for the lgbt community, pulse was more than just a place to go an

inclusion and freedom, to be themselves, the same promise that our country holds for everyone. this was an attack on that promise. it was an attack on our values as a country and our national community. it was an attack on who we are as a nation and as a people. and our country as a whole stands united in response to and despicable act. with this, i will turn things over to director comey, who will provide some additional details on where we are in the investigation now. dir. comey: our hearts are broken and ache for the people who were lost in orlando, those wounded, and their families. we are so sorry for your loss and your suffering. i also want to say a word of thanks and express admiration for the work of local law enforcement in orlando.

extraordinary bravery that saved lives. soare such good people -- lucky for such good people who choose lives of service in law enforcement. also, i want to say thanks to those who rendered care at the scene, doctors, nurses, ordinary citizens. you showed us the best part of humanity in the midst of terrible loss. as you know, this is a federal terrorism investigation led by the fbi, with the assistance, as we always do, of our state, local, and federal partners. there are strong indications of radicalization by this killer and of potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organizations. we are spending a tremendous amount of time trying to understand every moment of this killer's path to that terrible night in orlando, to understand his motives and to understand the details of his life.

using the killer's name, and i will try not to do that. part of what motivates sick people to do this kind of thing is some twisted notion of fame or glory, and i don't want to be part of that for the sake of the victims or their families and so that other twisted minds don't think that this is a path to fame and recognition. what i want to do is give you a sense of what we know so far and then tell you as much i can -- as i can about our past contact with the killer. we heart going through the killer -- we are going through especiallys life, electronics, that you understand his past and determine whether anyone else is involved in directing or assisting him. so far, we see no indication that he was part of any kind of network. it is also not entirely clear at this point just what terrorist group he aspired to support,

affinity at the time of the and generallyil leading up to the attack for radical list islamic groups -- radical islamist groups. he made two calls on sunday morning -- three calls. he called and he hung up. he called again and spoke briefly with the dispatcher and then he hung up. and then the dispatcher called him back again and they spoke briefly. there were three total calls. during the calls, he said he was doing this for the leader of isil, who he named and pledged loyalty to. he also claimed solidarity with the perpetrators of the boston marathon bombing and solidarity with a florida man who died as a suicide bomber in syria for al nusra front, a room in conflict with the so-called islamic state -- a group in conflict with the so-called islamic state. the

boston and a florida man were not involved with islamic state. we are also trying to understand the role that anti-gay bigotry played in the attack, during the month in which we celebrate our lgbt brothers and sisters. we're working hard to understand the killer, his motives, and his sources of inspiration. but we are highly confident that and,killer was radicalized at least in some part, through the internet. that's what we have been doing. now let me tell you what i can about the fbi's. prior contact with the killer we contact fbi's prior with the killer. we first became aware of him in may, 2013. he made some statements that were inflammatory and contradictory that concern his coworkers about terrorism. first, he claimed family connections to al qaeda.
