adults. leon: developing now, authorities in france are questioning several people after a series of raids in a paris suburb. the raids followed the fatal stabbing of a police officer and his girlfriend by self-identified isis sympathizer. police stormed the family home saving the 3-year-old son and killing the attacker. the attack comes as france host the month-long euro 2016 soccer championships. alison: it was an eight-hour manhunt, but pennsylvania state police finally arrested a man accused of killing three other men in west virginia. police say 32-year-old eric chute killed the men yesterday near a state park. he wasn't tracked down until early this morning. police believe the murder was over an apparent property dispute. leon: breaking news out of fairfax county where jurors have just convicted andrew schmuhl. he was accused of holding his wife's former boss and that man's wife hostage in their home. northern virginia bureau chief

courtroom when the guilty verdict was read and he joins us live with if reaction. jeff? jeff: well, leon, no reaction inside the courtroom from the defendant andrew schmuhl. but a few minutes ago i spoke with the defense attorney brad haywood saying that the team is disappointed about the verdict. they truly care about andrew schmuhl. they believe in him and they believe he had impairment in his life. the jury was not left with entirely fair options. now this is related to a home invasion, violent home invasion in november of 2014. schmuhl found guilty on all seven counts. one of the victims leo fisher after the hearing was hugging relatives and friends following this hearing. again, this all relates back to november 9, 2014, when prosecutors say that andrew schmuhl burst into mclean home of sue duncan and leo fisher. he is accused of tasing leo fisher, tying both of them in zip ties, stabbing both of them and shooting at sue duncan in a three-hour long ordeal. prosecutors say he had ee

the victims. but at one point after the shot was fired, due duncan played -- sue duncan played dead and was able to trip the alarm, alerting authorities. after a chase, andrew schmuhl and his wife alecia was arrested in springfield. andrew was found only wearing a diaper at the time of the arrest. prosecutors say the motive here was revenge after alecia schmuhl had been fired by leo fisher from her lawyer job at an arlington law firm. the defense rather, claimed andrew schmuhl was so intoxicated on prescription drugs that he did not remember what he was doing at the time at the crime. the jurors clearly did not buy the defense. no comment from the prosecution after this case. they will be talking, hopefully after the sentencing hearing on thursday. they still have to try alecia schmuhl at her trial coming up in september. the sentencing hearing for this case for andrew schmuhl will be happening on thursday morning. we can expect more evidence, more witness testimony. andrew schmuhl is facing

live in fairfax, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. alison: thank you very much, jeff. well, police believe the man who they arrested for robbing a bank in east falls falls churn friday is the serial robber they have been looking for since 2014. they believe amin huie is the "forever loyal bandit" and is responsible for six other bank robberies. and one attempted robbery in fairfax in arlington counties. huie has allegedly been robbing area banks since june 2014. leon: feels like we have been stealing something from mother nature the last few days here. the weather has been so nice. you lived in seattle. this is more like what you had there than this time of year here. alison: it's beautiful there in the summer. low humidity is nice. we wish it wasn't going to end. steve: enjoy the weather tonight and get out to take advantage of it. look at the temperatures out there. in the upper 70's, to the lower 80's throughout the area. it will stay that way through

alison: three navy crew members are safe after their helicopter crashed in newport news. it happened near the james river bridge in a routine training mission. the coast guard says the trio was rescued by a nearby civilian ship. although the condition of the men is unknown, you can see the three right there walking on their own. leon: all right. $6 billion. that is how much money the commonwealth of virginia awards every year in contracts. new report that is out says that many of the contracts have serious flaws. our government watchdog investigator chris papst h

he joins us live from the "live desk." what flaws are we talking about? chris: state leaders call the results of the report pathetic and significant. every year, virginia spends billions of tax dollars to secure contracts for transportation, construction and i.t. but the report found many of the contracts are simply not being done properly. and taxpayers' dollars are being wasted. the analysis done by the join legislative audit and review committee. the general commission watchdog agency. i analyzed $8 billion worth of contracts and found nearly $2 billion dollars was tied up in contracts that had the flaws or did not meet expectations. that is 25%. now the reason according to the report is bad policy. and that staff throughout the state is undertrained which led to overpaying for services and getting poor quality. state delegate of fairfax county says the most significant problem with the contract is many are not

leon: back now to the breaking news of the tour bus crash on the g.w. parkway. let's get to michelle marsh standing by. what is the latest? michelle: this is what we know so far. the tour bus overturned in the location of george washington parkway and stratford lane. we have multiple crews on the way to gather more details about injuries. we know that there are reports of multiple injuries but we don't know the extent of those.

>> the fire chief said the addition of the private medical response ambulances has given the department a breather. since march 28, once they get on scene to determine a patient is not in a life threatening emergency a.m.r.'s are called to make the transport to the hospital. >> at the end of the day, i tell you the system has been stabilize. sam: the chief says with the private ambulances, the paramedics and the e.m.t. have time for training. d.c. ambulances are being repaired at twice the rate as before. with a.m.r. 30 units and the d.c. 379 there are seldom -- d.c.'s 39 there are seldom shortages. they have now decided to let a.m.r. transport children as well as adults. criticism, they said they are allowed to transport p.c.p. overdose patients and she doesn't think they should be able to do that. there are some complaints if they are nonemergency why are they driving around w
