now. announcer: now, "abc7 news at 6:00". on your side. leon: right now the senate is preparing to vote on the first of four gun control amendments that it's considering now. you are looking at a live picture of the senate floor as deliberations are underway. this is coming after last week's filibuster by the democrats demanding the senate take up new gun legislation. jonathan elias in the newsroom. jonathan: we rer -- we were hoping to have the results but the deliberations continue. there are no less than four measures discussed right now that are plans that hopefully will become law at least for lawmakers introducing them. of those introduced, two of the gun measures were introducedded by the republicans, who by the democrats. they run the gamut. ranging from if you on the terrorist watch list you will not be able to purchase a firearm. that is on the table now. the other one if you are mentally ill or deemed so by a

prohibited from buying a gun. right now those folks can buy guns. these are all the things debated. all of this legislation is being discussed in light of what happened in orlando. they do need a majority in the senate. there has to be 60 volts one way or the -- votes for this to pass. we keep a close eye on the senate floor. if anything should happen we get back to you. leon: thank you. the u.s. supreme court decided today to not act on a gun case. the justices rejected challenges on the assault weapon ban in connecticut and new york. that now leaves a lower court ruling in place that upholds the laws passed in the wake of the shooting at sandy hook elementary school in new-up to, connecticut. amidst criticism the justice department released full transcript of the calls between the orlando shooter, 911 dispatch and the hostage negotiators. the original decision to emit reference to isis is done to avoid giving the terrorist group additional publicity. that is the subject

kevin: i think most people are actually pretty positive leon. there is a steady stream of commuters coming up the escalators here at the eastern market station. some waving to us. a loll of them have a confused look on their face searching for the shuttle bus. this is pennsylvania avenue. they have halted service from the eastern market to benning road station. orange line is stopped between eastern market and the minnesota avenue station. this search started saturday and runs through sunday july 3. that is 16 days in total. a typical six-car train in rush hour has 800 people on board. that means wmata need 18

fired the campaign manager corey lewandowski. trump's children pressured him to fire him after falling poll numbers and infighting in the campaign. lewandowski says he doesn't know why he was let go. >> i'm so thankful for this chance. i know that what i will do moving forward is share my advice of what i know with mr. trump and his team if they want it. leon: some trump aides praised the decision with one tweeting, "ding dong the witch is dead." lewandowski made national headlines after he was charged with assaulting a reporter at a campaign vent earlier in year. that charge by the way dropped. the presumptive democratic nominee taken a short break from campaigning to welcome her second grandchild to the world. they left with chelsea's second child. her daughter charlotte is 2 in september. shocking accident took t

leon: thursday at 10:00 a.m. a judge will rule in caesar goodson's case. he was driving the van that later lead to freddie gray's death. bradley was there for the closing argument -- brad bell was there for the closing arguments. brad: prosecutors claiming the drive of the police van carrying freddie gray, officer caesar goodson caused his death failing to seat belt gray and giving him a so-called "rough ride" claiming the intent is to bang him around, bin pal him. the defense firing back saying, "officer goodson drove the van safely, slowly, responsibly." judge barry williams announcing the verdict will come thursday morning. trial watchers are

storms late in the afternoon. tonight partly cloudy skies. if you head out the door tomorrow grab your umbrella. dress comfortably. shorts and short steves if you can. temperatures are upper 60's to the lower 70's. a quick warmup through the morning hours to the 70's and the 80's. early on around 7:00 to 8:00. slow go around the capital beltway. everyone is rushing off to work or camp. we'll see a few embedded thunderstorms. we will see lull by the mid-morning hours. thunderstorms south of d.c. they will see the greatest risk for strong storms. the gusty winds and downpours and small hail. not a huge, huge severe weather outbreak like we had last week.
