virginia. declared abama has state of emergency in the wake of the devastating flooding. he has also called the governor to reassure him he has resources at the ready to help with the recovery efforts. died inn 25 people have the flooding, hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed. 32,000 people are without power at this hour. we will take you live to the flood zone coming up at 6:20. a much different picture here, sunny and warm, very low humidity. meteorologist josh knight has a first look at the weekend forecast. josh: things could not be much better for us. we are much more prepared to do with the humidity, and we have been lucky. blue skies across the majority of the area, a great shot from the national harbor. we had some extra cloud cov

kimberly: returning now to the developing story in west virginia, president obama declared a disaster about two hours ago. when he five people are confirmed dead after heavy rains caused massive floods, straining residence -- 25 people are confirmed dead. scott mclean is live with the very latest. any good news tonight? scott: yeah,

it is few and far between. there are still some 32,000 people without power, and that is the least of their problems. just look at how much water came through in a short time. top of theark on par garage, that is the high water mark. now that things are drying out, you can see some of the scale of the damage. there are scenes like this across dozens of county's. -- across dozens of counties. after two days of flash flooding, raging waters that caused widespread damage in parts of west virginia are finally receding. at least 24 people have died, making this the deadliest flash since 2010. the governor declared a state of emergency for more than 40 counties and activated the national guard to assist first

water-related rescues. we do not have any pending problems, but we have our hopes up. scott: they have dislodged bridges and swept away homes. >> there is no way to our house. the only thing that we can do is cross the creek for the rep stream where it's narrow and cut a path through the rough mountainside. those lucky enough to return home are trying to salvage what they can. >> there's no place to store stuff that is dry. scott: federal assistance has already been approved for the three hardest hit counties. the governor said that will help kickstart some of the relief efforts. i mentionedat earlier who was rescued from the attic, she also lost her business.
