and hail in a few short hours. look at this scene. navigating city streets nearly impossible as they turned into rivers of rushing water spilling over to create water falls in some parts. emergency crews were busy rescuing people, including two people out walking their dogs who were swept away. thousands of homes and businesses were without power until the storm passed. on the other coast algae described as smelly and thick is spreading across a stretch of atlantic coast beaches in florida. just on type for the fourth of july. the governor has declared a state of emergency. they blame it on the army corps of engineers. the agency behind the controlled release of the fresh water from a nearby lake. hotels and restaurants have gotten dozens of cancellations from people planning to spend the weekend in that area. now to the istanbul attack.

this first video is hard to watch. it shows a plain clothed officer confronting a man in black. in black and the officer gets shot. it's believed the man in the black was one of the three suicide bombers who carried out the attack. the death toll has risen to at least 44 people, dozens of those injured remain hospitalized. an american teenager was stabbed to death in the west bank as she slept in her bed. a 17-year-old, the attacker was shot dead by security forces. photographs show blood on the walls and the floor of the girl's room. hundreds attended her funeral later in the day. a cruise ship is returning to new jersey after an apparent drowning. an unconscious 8-year-old boy was taken from a pool on board the anthem of the seas to a new york city hospital. he's currently on life support. the child was among a large group of cruise passengers from the netherlands.

>> a new trial for the man convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend as a subject of a popular pod cast. he's been in prison 16 years. he was sentenced to life for killing his ex-girlfriend and burying her body in 1999. a judge in baltimore ruled he should be retried because of issues during his initial trial. >> it's been a grueling fight, and there have been a lot of disappointments along the way, and there were times when it looked like we had lost. >> brown also says he will have to seek to have him released on bail and he expects maryland prosecutors to appeal the judge's ruling. the serial pod cast raised a lot of questions about the case two years ago. >> and a scene yesterday, new york city times square. a naked man, not the naked cowboy but a naked man ranted about donald trump and taunted police for an hour before he took a dive off the back of a large grand stand.
