that's flowing. that's pretty typical. as you head in from eastern avenue to 11th bridge, along the capital beltway and prince george's county. but 395, i want to highlight the lowest and that's northbound traveling 60 miles per hour. this is an accident at shirlington with two lanes blocked. make sure you stay over to that left-hand side. you will be able to get by and once you get into the district, pretty much clear as you get onto the freeway. even 3rd street is good. jummy. jummy: well, americans on the move will also see heightened security this holiday weekend. airports across the country are adding more armed officers as well as undercover officers to look for any suspicious behavior. >> we live in a world that is very different than one we lived in prior to 9/11 and it's

jummy: here at home, authorities in the district say they are ready for anything that could happen during the busy weekend of events. park police say they have several emergency plans in place, and they are closely monitoring world events as well as intelligence. well, the question everyone asking this friday afternoon -- what's the weather going to look like this weekend? chief meteorologist doug hill has a look at our forecast. doug. doug: looking pretty good today and saturday. ooking live right now in alexandria, torpedo fact reerks hot and humid. that will be the story, hot and humid weather. with temperatures climbing to the upper 80's, that's going to mean the chances of showers and heavy and potentially severe thunderstorms will increase. especially through the late afternoon and early evening hours around the entire region. what we're watching is a low front and this trough of low pressure will add some lif

creating the potential not only for showers and storms but the potential of isolated showers and maybe hail as we head through the afternoon and early evening center. norman oklahoma, the folks that forecast severe weather possibilities, have our entire area in a slight risk of severe weather for this afternoon. there is no talk or mention of any severe thunderstorm watches being issued. however, that is not out of the question for some parts of the area. now we analyze the storm threat that any storms that do develop will have the highest probability of producing damaging winds and also a moderate risk of hailstones. we think the storms will be fast enough moving that i think it's somewhere between slight and moderate risk for any flooding. gametime, i think the first pitch is at 6:00 tonight, maybe it's 7:05 -- 6:00 tonight, and with that there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the areas. of course, stay with us through the afternoon and online and we'll da

the storms get cranking up. talk about the beaches. we have a lot of stuff to share, jummy, in a few moments. jummy: now we move to breaking news in the race for the white house. just a short time ago attorney general loretta lynch admitted her impromptu meeting with bill clinton has cast a shadow of her investigation into hillary clinton's email scandal. abc's megan hughes has the latest. megan: a new development today -- attorney general loretta lynch says when it comes into the investigation into hillary clinton's private emails, she will defer to the findings of he f.b.i. directors. attorney general lynch: investigators with the department of justice and i fully respect their recommendations. megan: aides to bill clinton and lynch said it was not arranged but a chance encounter. nonetheless, republicans disapprove. senator chris coons on cnn.

county and police say the suspects knew expectly what they were going for. our john gonzalez has the latest now. john: well, this is an alarming situation that at this hour prince george's county police are still investigating and trying to find the two men responsible. we understand that the call came in at around 3:30 this morning for an armed robbery here at this rehab and patient care center. this is connected to doctors community hospital here. here's what we know, two men stormed into the building both wearing masks and at least one armed with a gun. the staff inside did comply, and these robbers, police say, had very specific intentions. they were able to make it out with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs. take a listen. >> in this case it was -- it does not appear at this time any money was taken. it was medicine that was taken from this facility. luckily

this situation. john: we understand when police arrived, a lot of the medicine was strewn across the parking lot here. now, it's unclear at this hour how many patients and staff members were inside the building, but police saying there were definitely folks inside. it is a 24-hour rehab and patient care center. right now police are spending time interviewing some of the witnesses and also going through the surveillance video to see if they can get a better description of these men and possibly a getaway car. back to you inside. jummy: well, developing this noon. police are searching for a 14-year-old pregnant girl. she was last seen monday morning at her home. she's 7 months pregnant and needs medication. e is 5'2" and weighs 120 pounds. she is known to frequent arlington an

police want information for you. and a boy nearly drowned on a cruise ship. he was on the royal caribbean cruiseship. the boy was found in one of the three swimming pools. not exactly clear what happened or which pool he was in. that cruise ship wasn't far from new jersey so it returned to port and the boy was taken to the hospital. it is a new fiscal year, of course, and that means new laws are taking in effect in virginia. a new gun law becomes official. it requires police officers at all gun shows to perform voluntary background checks. you can be fined $100 if you are smoking in a car under the age of 8 who is also in the car. public elementary schools will be required to give students at least 20 minutes a day for physical activity. to maryland now where the minimum wage will go up from $8.25 to $8.75. the state gas tax is going up a penny and the state sponsor retirement savings plan also

goes into effect. also beginning today, a grace period that metro customers long requested. they will now be allowed to exit the same station they entered within 15 minutes without being charged. that's likely to happen during a service disruption. metro general manager said the change is all abou refocusing on customers. coming up on abc 7 news at noon, this has to be what every skydiver fears. you make your jump and then discover something is wrong with the parachute. the camera was rolling when one man went through this terrifying experience. also coming up, the change disney has made after a toddler was dragged into the water by an alligator. this one, though, has nothing to do with security. a bit later, a bizarre custody battle case in virginia. a judge rules the couple's 10-year-old daughter is banned from playing golf. some say she's a phenom that could go pro. that story and more after

jummy: a terrifying moment captured on camera in oklahoma. daniel went skydiving when his parachute malfunctioned midair. he got tangled up in the chord. he activated his reserve parachute and was able to land safely. >> you don't really have time to really react. you just do what you have to do. jummy: wow. well, he's been a professional skydiver, we hear, for seven years now. that helped him out for sure. disney, we've learned, no longer having cartoon alligators and crocodiles in its shows and parades at magic kingdom in florida. that change after the 2-year-old was grabbed by an

lake. disney says the alligators and crocodiles were moved out of respect for the family. and those onboard the jungle cruise ride to drop a word from the script, watch your children or your crocodiles will. well, people who come to las vegas are used to seeing elaborate water shows like the bilaggio but nobody is oohing and awing. fierce floods flooded sin city. >> overnight nearly a dozen water rescues outside las vegas. a ladder team saving these two after being stranded in a drainage canal. and sieged by thunderstorms thursday and up to two inches of hail blanketing the ground with what looked like snow in july. all of it generating epic flash floods. >> oh, my god! reporter: wreaking havoc on

tourists. the quick moving storms turning this intersection into white water rapids. >> can't believe this. reporter: trapping drivers, turning some parking lot noose lagoons. this surge of water inundating canals, turning underpass noose water falls. >> oh, my god! oh, my god! reporter: trash bin and debris flowing into cars. some of the water reaching speeds of 30 miles per hour. jummy: wow. well, meanwhile the summer heat in phoenix, arizona, proved to be too much for a man who decided to hike a mountain. rescue crews had to call in helicopters to save. he was climbing camelback mountain when he was overcome with the heat. crews hiked after him. and the better way is to call in a helicopter and airlift him to the hospital. officials say he was alert and dizzy, as you can imagine. doug: las vegas, that's what happens when you have heavy cloudbursts in the

they have those dry washes there to catch some of the water but it was crazy looking. here we have concerns for this afternoon, early this evening. the atmosphere is prime with a cold front coming with potentially isolated, heavy thunderstorms and damaging winds. a lot to watch. we'll take care of that during the afternoon hours and tell you what happens. i want to give you a live look at ocean city, maryland. 74 degrees right now. if you look on the right-hand side of the image, you see how the left is bluer and clearer and the right-hand side murky. if you look down the coast there is a reason skies are dark in that direction. they have showers and storms. a heavy cluster about to hit ocean city. as far as the beach travel goes, leaving the metro area, leaving the hen tire region to head east, you'll find showers and storms becoming more likely after 5:00 or so as you head toward the bay bridge throughout the evening hours. hot and humid. our advice, the earlier the start you get the better and also to make jamie sullivan much happier if you leave early.

as far as the rain goes, nothing here leik locally but down at the beaches we have a -- nothing here locally but down at the beaches we have some heavy rain and storms moving to the east-northeast. that will be moving in ocean city. looking down the beach, we just did a live camera. this is the cloud cover. all from the change in wind direction from yesterday that started to bring in the warm and humid air from the south. we have plenty of sunshine, hot and humid. when we have the conditions it destabilizes the atmosphere and really sets it up to develop showers and storms. when we have a cold front like this one approach. we'll look in the next few hours for showers to develop just east of the mountains. then, as they enter this very rich, moisture atmosphere as well as pretty strong winds thousands of feet off the ground we are prime to get thunderstorms this afternoon. our futurecast suggests 3:30 on the east side of the mountains, then spreading out over the metro area at 4:30, rather, moving through. again, t
