the u.s. embassy in dhaka. at this hour we are told two police officers have been killed and at least 40 bystanders injured. isis is claiming responsibility for the attacks which has now become a siege. right now it's 4:00 in the morning in dhaka. both sides are entrenched in a standoff after initially exchanging gunfire. meanwhile the investigation into tuesday's deadly attack at the airport in istanbul is zeroing in on a chechen extremist. authorities are trying to determine if this man was involved in planning the attack. he is a top lieutenant for isis. the tuesday attack killed 44 people and injured more than 200. turkey's president blamed isis for the attack. leon: that attack in turkey is forcing the u.s. to intensify the focus on isis. in particular the isis stronghold of raqqa in syria. scott thuman examines what

church shooting in charleston, south carolina, are suing the f.b.i. the suit says the f.b.i. made mistakes that allowed dylann roof to purchase the .45-call bet pistol used in the shooting. f.b.i. director james comey said roof should not have been allowed to buy a gun. a county sheriff said a clerical error prevented the f.b.i. finding details of roof's arrest record. starting today state police will be present at virginia gun shows to perform background checks on gun buyers. the checks must be requested by the person selling or transferring the gun. also taking effect today virginia will recognize all valid weapons, concealed weapons permits issued by other states and territories providing certain conditions are met. leon: just ahead at 6:00, a tribute to a student killed on a metro train. we will show it to you and tell you where to find it up next. maureen: plus the latest track on storms in the area now. the

maureen: montgomery county police want help to identify the men in this video. they broke in the school in chevy chase last thursday and stole 25 ipads valued at $7,500. they think the men stole a b.m.w. in bethesda earlier that day. anyone with information is urged to contact the police. prince george's county police want your help also. they are looking for three suspects caught on camera in a break-in and a robbery at the doctor's hospital rehab center in lanham. they robbed patients of the medications at gunpoint overnight. the video shows the men struggling to load everything in the vehicle and they left some of the drugs at the scene. if you know anything about

george's county police. leon: metro riders now have the option of leaving station without taking a train for free. effective today if you leave a station of 15 minutes of going in and swiping a smart card you won't be charged. previously you were on the hook for the minimum fare if you walked in. if you saw a packed platform and decided to leave. now you can leave for free. maureen: unique tribute in place for graduate student killed aboard a metro train on july 4 last year. someone stabbed kevin southerland to death on board a redline train. we are here with how he is being remembered. michelle: kevin sutherland loved to take pictures of the land marks but now metro has a visible tribute to his work on display along the red line. the family asked metro to display some of their son's photographs and they agreed. now the images that
