afternoon. as we get ready to celebrate this fourth of july, security in the nation's capital has been beefed up as hundreds of thousands head to the district for the celebration.

what you will see. heightened security along the national mall with a day full of ortho july festivities underway. the flags near the capital are flanked by fences and barricades. set it toheckpoints give the hundreds of thousands of visitors safe. while bags and coolers will be allowed, each will be checked before you can claim your spot to watch the fireworks. park police will be keeping a close eye to the scott, watching for drones. grills, weapons, drugs, or alcohol, or glass bottles. you will see a stepped-up presence. visitors here at the nation's capital say it is comforting. are everywhere, secret service is everywhere. >> fbi. >> it seems like everybody is out patrolling. >>

this gives you a really good idea of what is going on in district right, a lot of closures. the parade just got underway about 15 minutes ago, so these closures will be in place through the evening. i want to show you what else is going on now. the third street tunnel is open. ninth street and 12th street tunnels also been. aret street and 12 street closed until approximately 4:00. if you are not trying to get downtown, take a look at what is happening in virginia. both directions looking great in dale city. near falls road, we are moving well, if you are heading in down on 270, or heading west toward germantown. so far, just some downtime closures. jummy: thank you.

this is all moving to the east. best estimate, i would guess around 1:00 we will start picking up showers on the west side of the way. second,not rain every but there will be periods of rain. the first batch of moisture comes in ahead of a warm front. everything generally moving from left to right, west to east. here is the more front we are dealing with. the first piece of energy moving through and then another one to follow. the good news is this segment between the two cells. according to modeling, between 8:00 10:00, we could get an opening where the rain will end or diminish before the second batch of thunderstorms comes in overnight. this is one of those forecast models, check the timing at noon.
